Watched the first 2 matches so far.
I had the liberty of playing 3 medic mercs: Sawbonez, aura & phoenix. First game I played pretty terribly, I think I got hit by every single airstrike, but despite that I still finished on top XP wise thanks to revives & medpacks.
Next up defense on Waterloo where I played aura. Over extended my position in the beginning which Pixel pointed out. I’ve never played Aura before so I didn’t know she was that squishy, I also didn’t know enemies can also use your healing station (oops)!
Lastly Phoenix on attack, again never played that merc so was a bit clueless what to do. Playing defensively sucks because you can’t heal your teammates. On the other hand playing offensively sucks too since if you go in first or alone the enemy will just gib you or you’ll be in a bad position to use the revive skill.
I’d rank the medics like this:
1 Sawbonez: peashooter gun, but the medpack - revive is so strong (or maybe I’m just used to it from other titles which carries over to DB)
2 Aura: Better weapons, but really squishy. I would have liked to see aura able to survive a grenade blast if you are standing on top of your healing station.
3 Phoenix: This class has potential, but if the enemy has played DB for 2 weeks then I don’t think he’ll get a chance to use his skill. (gibbed)
Also while playing Phoenix I felt pretty powerless when you see your teammates on low health and I did consider using TK revive quite a few times, but didn’t do it since I don’t know exactly how health regen works in DB anymore. I think it is beneficial though? Kill a teammate, then charge your paddles & revive will give them a lot of health?
Last night I couldn’t put my finger on it, but I was doing way more team damage then I do in other games. After seeing the demos I think player collision plays a major part here. You’ll be engaging an enemy and your teammate will walk straight through you into your line of fire.
As said in the other thread I can’t tell the difference between the two teams the colors are completely washed out + particle effects everywhere. I like to play with the settings on high so please sort this out SD. It’s not a problem when the enemies are far away since then you see the teamcolor above their head, but when they get in between your own team then it’s a huge problem.
EDIT: I often see complaints about FPS so FYI I get 120-140FPS on high settings GTX 770, but my computer does get very very hot.
Kinda skimmed through the match 3 vid. The was little to no comunication on my team which made the pushes lackluster on attack & the defense was chaotic. When they took the objective that led them to win they were almost at the delivery point before somebody called it so it was kind of already game over at that point.
I feel that the comment that some people don’t like the highlander gameplay is partially directed at me (since I did mention last night that I’d prefer to just play a normal match). I am open to change and would like to see highlander implemented, BUT imo there should be larger difference between mercs abilities and I don’t think highlander is good for a PUG. In a PUG you’re already thrown in a team with people you haven’t played with much or at all. So having to play a merc that you might not be as familiar with is just another setback for coordinated play. (but that’s just my opinion)
