VIS - sky problem[SOLVED]

(oceansofsadness) #1

im about to release my new map but i have a kind of VIS problem, some places in my map show not the whole sky (dark = good sky, light = bad sky):

probably i have to change sth in my worldspawn but im not sure what

thanx

i have the exact same problem, although i havent worried about it yet because my map isnt near alpha yet. anyway i think it has something to do with the light stage man, because when i compile with no lights i dont get the dark sky. i think you should try adding or removing stuff from the shader, perharps the ‘nolightmap’ command?

is your map really that dark? :S
I cant see a thing :S

i tried some but without success.

@flip: just dark screenshots :evil:

It’s really hard to tell from the screen shot, but does your skybox actually fit together properly? Can you take another screen shot (brighter image) looking directly into a cornor where outer walls and top meet?

I’ve had similar happen in one of my maps where at certain points of the map one side of the skybox just seemed to dissapear for a moment then come back when turned around. You could try fiddling with the fogclip and farplanedist values in worldspawn that seemed to improve the situation for me. By the way, really like them lamps hanging in the trees on the right, nice touch.

found the problem, i had some structural caulk brushes (for VIS) touching the sky-brush :smiley:

(Shaderman) #8

You can use structural brushes for vis blocking touching the sky if you apply the sky shader.
