Huh ? Areaportals are mostly for doors.

Assuming your picture is from the side, your problem is probably that q3map gives vertical splits priority over horizontal (blocks have heighest priority, then hints, then other brushwork). What you want is something like this

the — are a split, which you probably need to use a hint to create. The C is a wall of structural caulk embedded in your mountain. Use the portal viewer to make sure you acutally have a volume on each side of the caulk, and that they are completly hidden from each other by it. If you have that, and the other side is still being drawn, you may have another problem…

Use control D to hide details when you are making sure your caulk wall actually hides stuff.

really weird… but no matter… if i can trust the /r_showtris 1 command it should work (but i can see the top of a tree behind the mountain! :bash: )

when i am standing in front of my mountain and /r_showtris 1 does nothing draw behind the mountain, can i trust my eyes then? or is MY line of sight blockt by the mountain but et will calculate the area behind the mountains too?

No, you need to use r_showtris 2 in et. r_shotris 1 is z-buffered, so you don’t see through anything.

yeh i know its for doors, but if he really wants to close one side of the map of from the other side, it might work.
