VietNam : Ambush TC

(KillerKind) #1

Hello peeps, I would first like to say that I have been modding for MOHAA for some time now and have been extremely frustrated by the lack of support from EA. I am very impressed with the release of the ET source code and excited about the possibilities for my TC. I’ve spent a couple weeks now working with ET. Everything is looking good, so I’ve no desire to continue with MOH.

Here’s a few pics of my new VietNam TC for ET. It is very early in development, but already we’ve made major progress. We have new weapons, player skins and accessories (waiting patiently for the mdm tools!), a new team death match game type, and our first custom map in the works.

Please feel free to post any feedback you my have.

Looks awesome. You got a website so that I can get my regular update fix of this mod?

Looks Great man, glad to see this kind of Mod coming to ET… loadsa good guys on this forum / scene for support!

(KillerKind) #4

No website yet. I have someone working on one, but I don’t have a proper host yet. I’ll post updates in this thread so you don’t miss anything.

it’s a cool idea and i really like the model textures… tho the map is a bit weird imo: the grass seems weird (too tall too green? dunno plain weird) and the house has the textures all weird too but i guess that it’s just a beta…

gl with the rest of the Mod. cheers!

Nice. What kind of system are you running. I’m impressed that you have that much foliage on a pretty open map and are still getting 88 FPS

jah - Thanks for your feedback. It is in alpha state, and the map is not lit yet.

Ifurita - I’m using a Ge Force4 Ti 4200. I’ve spent a good deal of time developing low poly models for the out door maps, and I use creative mapping tecniques which help a good deal with performance.

I love it.

Your mod is looking very good. If I was you i would

  • leave out the XP, plain old frags
  • maybe a DM mode

Btw, is ur mod going to be realistic, with recoil etc. , or not?

and dont forget to change the weapon icons

GL, i hope to see more screenshots soon

Looks good.
The only thing I have to add is that the hud heads for the vietnamese doesn’t look very good, the hats are what’s making it look bad. The in-game heads look excellent though.

EDIT: Just noticed how big the weapons look, maybe you could scale them down a bit?

(KillerKind) #11

ignition - I did remove the XP code for the new TDM mode. The pics are taken in Objective mode, as the map scripting has not been finished. Also working on a new DM mode. Yes, I will most likely code in new weapons with new icons and realism. As it is now these weapons are replacing existing ones, only because it is quick and I want to see how they look in game.

bacon - The hud uses the same models as the in game models, so I’m not sure if this can be changed. I’ll have a look around the code and see if the hud can be coded to use a separate model. I know the weapons need to be scaled, I’ll fix them soon.

Thanks for the feedback guys, it is well received. Stay tuned for more updates.

Here’s an image from one of the other maps:

(KillerKind) #13

Nice Balr, are you going to convert that one?

(ikanatto) #14

AH, seems very cool! Good job!

(Balr14) #15

Mine are kind of easy to convert. No buildings.

(KillerKind) #16

You will need to have to remake all the meshes and triangle brush terrain?

(Balr14) #17

You know me. I redo them 16 times before I’m happy with them anyway.

(Helk) #18

i’d be quite interested to know how you added the weapons, if you are using the included animations, if you are using custom ones etc… (im working on a TC of my own and havent looked into this extensively yet)

Thanks for the offer, Pencil. How would that work, would it be a sub-domain? How much disk space would we have?
