Hello mapping types

A while ago I took it upon myself to rejig the vesuvius map that firefly and myself put together last year. Attempt was to make it less strung out and more compact, while keeping my favorite bits. It is finally about ready for a beta run.

Am hoping to have the beta ready in a week or two.

maybe you could adjust the skybox? cause the mountain was not vey nice… no offence but it looked so professional the whole map except the skybox

Yup - I did mention the 20th as beta day - ooops - sry

The map is 99.99% ready - will DEFINITELY be ready in the next few days for beta testing

Life keeps getting in the way of mapping these days and the volcano skybox took much longer than any human could anticipate because the sky box entity suddenly decided to make halls of mirrors that just wouldn’t be fixed - no matter what I did.
Working now at last - an improvement on the last one - although if anyone wants to have a go at making a suitably cool one for the next version then challenge accepted!

So just a few tweaks left to do and I’ll upload the beta.

Is it possibly to get the cut version for 20 ppl servers? Your map looks brilliant but its too big :frowning:

dlug - how do you know it too big? - youve not been in it!
fyi - I’ts more compact than vesuvius was - smaller than oasis and fueldump

It has 32 player slots per team.

yes i agree with you
for NQ servers it is impossible to can run a 64 slots

no way to can have the map for a 40 slots server only?

In fact 20 a side is plenty?!

ill take advice on this one - shall I make it for 20 a side or not?

I think that you should aim for a 32-40 player (16 - 20 per side)

guys we have a popular server busy and full everyday but obviously your server cant be always a fully one so too huge maps got boring to play when the servers are back quieter
so thougt 16/side will be enough

er… just a noobs nooby try, but a fast possible workaround for ur hom, try substitutingskybox ent. with skyportal ent. or reverse acording the current one, i dont really remember how was exactly with them but i know with one i got hom in a certain situation when with the other i didnt. yea the effects they giving are not the same :frowning: but possible quickfix idk.
btw i already wanted to write an email u but i take the opportunity to save a step for myself; can i use your relic model from vesuvius in my future maps, of course with credit in readme if i put it somewhere. p.s.: im a big fan of your maps, especially bridges :slight_smile:

I was testing last vesusius and its really big. Please make a map for 10 ppl per side (20 ppl max on server),

humm - this business of numbers of players - surely this is something that is decided on by the srever admin who is running the map - and therefore to put in the max number of team spawn entities is the thing to do for those who like lots of players in their game? Is the game default 32 slots per team?

Anyhow - vesuvius_rev isn’t built for a specific number but should/might play well with more and less players - we will see

macbeth - a small map is in progress - it’s one I started a while back called ‘a hard place’ will have a version ready at somepoint this summer - mapping time is shorter than it used to be for me :frowning:

aaa3 - I got the sky to work eventually - still don’t know why it wasn’t!? - bloody thing :slight_smile:
glad to hear you liked the old bridge monster.
The Urn model was made by Firefly - I’m sure he won’t mind you using it.

Dlug - like I say - this version is much more compact.
