Vertex editing terrain... then what?

Hey

i just tried to make my own terrain (small, nothing fancy) but now im wondering, how do you make nice textures for it? :???: Easygen blends the textures automatically… how do you do this manually? i really have no idea what this is called orso so cant really search for it (didnt find anything usefull)…

hope you can help me… tuts maybe?

Try this thread

and search for terrain and blend … good luck.

thnx for the help, but nothing in that post shows me how to manually make blended textures…

in the tutorials it just says “add some alpha blending”

:disgust:

Chin up young apprentice your path will be long and ardous… but learn you shall grasshopper!!

where it says

"your shader could look like this … "

That codes tells ET to take the standard textures found in et and place them on to your terrain, and where they are adjacent to each other they are blended together (almost).

It works in conjunction with an alphmap (.pcx file)

You also need to put some settings into the terrain in radiant.
It may help to read it over a few times, and also search for shaders.

Its all in the captains message in the microdot, oops sorry.

nein, we all no that dot2product + alpha belnd terrain is where its at now and its so much easier to use with better results

but just about every terrain textureing method is coverd here

For a start you should really stick to what EasyGen gives you, its a good start. And really easy to do.

i guess using this method actually is much easier in my map, cos i only need small amounts of terrain and i already finished some of the buildings, dont want to try 38 times in easygen before it fits…
i think i get the basic idea now though…
basically what you do is (what i think):
-you just texture the faces which you dont want to blend normally
-you texture the faces which you want to blend with a different texture, being a blend between the 2, and you get the correct angle etc by using the shader commands…

so you basically just create a blended texture and paint it over the planes you want to blend…
sounds logical lol…
is this correct?
