Version 23549 Feedback

bug: on Waterloo after you blow up the wall, the area that shows there you should plant your bomb is still there.

Few things about the GUI:
I love it, but here is some feedback.

One of the things that i really liked about Brink, was the ‘Objective wheel’.

I think it was a great idea, to help newcomers. It basicly acts like a questlog, just like in a MMO. -Okey, i want to do “stuff”, where should i start? - Bring up the magical wheel and it will tell you!

In the early days of Xt, understanding some of the objectives took me some time. Like the spawnpoint on Waterloo, phase1. I didn’t know what it is, where it is, and what is supposed to do, what is the true benefit for us, capturing it. But i heard the announcement that we are capturing it, great!

So my opinion is, remove the textual objective explanation from the GUI, it has one purpose, to explain the objective to someone who don’t know that to do. But for those who know the map, it’s just a pointless visual clutter. Not like we have much GUI clutter, but anyway :).

Bring back the ‘Objective wheel’, explain the objectives there (even in a bit more detailed fashion, like: if you capture the spawnpoint you have a greater chance to plant the bomb at the wall.)
Explaining your goals on the map quickly is really important. Everybody who will play this game knows how to play an FPS game. But this is not COD, where you can run around and kill ppl (ok, obv. you can do that). Since this game will be free, a lot of ppl will try it out, and if they are runing like a clueless on the map, they gonna put the game down, and might not pick it up again.

For what do we need a console feature if we don’t have side objectives?

That’s a perfect description of a casual gamer. Everyone else will start to learn the game properly.

A lot of people have been getting FPS boosts which is great but…

Did anyone else notice massive FPS drops besides me? I’m usually fine with having it between 80-120 but now I’m really struggling to get even 50 fps, even on barely populated servers such as 2v2.

yeah, massive drops/very unstable framerate and input lagging behind by a mile.

Yeah but might be a good idea to make the objective waypoints toggleable on a button instead of wheel. He’s kinda right that once you know maps these are just extra clutter.

Now now, the casual gamers are a majority, don’t forget that. One day you will become one too

all sorts of frame rate problems in menu and barracks,

(1-800-NOTHING) #47

do have Video/Post Process disabled? what happens if you connect to a server and then disconnect back to menu/barracks, is the framerate improved?

post processes off, leave, come back as bad if not worse

I like it. I didn’t change my ini file but seems like it stayed the same for the most part except models are a better color which threw me off since the models became the same color as my reticule but after I fixed that seems good.

just test a bit on my laptop (travelling) and the overall speed is still really slow … more feedback next week when I can test in good conditions

i put this question down here.
will there be in future big changes on LB and Waterlo?

No, because it makes more sense to concentrate on the new maps.

I seem to be having a problem where I can’t always jump while sprinting. Like I’ll hit jump mid sprint and 60% of the time I’ll just shake a bit, but won’t actually jump.

I’d hope they put some changes in. I don’t know what precisely would be a small versus big change.
