Version 23549 Feedback

Played a little on the new patch, so here’s some feedback.

First of all, let’s get the negatives out the way, I’ve posted some bugs in the bug section of the forum with “(Version 23549 - September 2013)” after the title. Some of them are returning, some of them are new. I’m sure I’ll find some more new bugs.

On to the positives:

[ul][li]The airstrike on Skyhammer is REALLY good now, so far I feel like it’s perfectly balanced, really excited to use it more.
[/li][li]Trainyard is heaven, I want to play this map over and over!
[/li][li]FPS is back up at the top thanks to the post-processing stuff being fixed
[/li][li]NUMBERS ON HEALTH BAR!!!
[/li][li]Movement changes
[/li][li]Something feels good with the weapons (at least on Skyhammer) when reloading. I feel like it’s a more frantic reload which has urgency to it. I like that.
[/li][li]Being able to spectate teammates when incap’d is AWESOME!
[/li][li]I really like the capturable consoles on WC. Can the defending team re-cap? If not, that’d be awesome (even more awesome if that was the case + there were only 2 to cap/defend)[/ul]

love the spread reduction
love the new HUD
love the accel increase
love the reduced jumping speed penalty (no penalty would be perfect)
love the option for disabling post process
love the spectator, more advanced than Battlefield :wink:

hate the spread increase while jumping
hate the slow overall movement speed
hate that there are no grenades for every merc (nades for everyone but no cooking)
hate that i have to spawn before accessing options menu
hate that there is still no reload+sprint
hate the pip countdown, not necessary at all.
No unnecessary noises like music, countdowns, flying jets, or car radios on multiplayer maps please!

After 8+ months of testing, we finaly have HP in numbers. Truly an epic moment!

And when do we get rid of the self revive medic?
This is the kind of reason i won´t play DB in pub servers.

hmm overall it looks like a good patch
the visual upgrades are like always amzing pls pay this guys some extra money :).
the spread reduction is fine.
but i had hoped there are more changes
will test it hopefully this night in draft
miss nades too
why are there again no real changes on LB .nearly nobody likes the map

And the Nade-Soldier is just ridiculous. The maps have too much tiny spaces for nonsense like that.

I wouldn’t mind if there was just one data core after the train crash, with a longer transmission time, and instant return.

The whole map is fun… Kinda points out how much love the EV objectives need, and the data cores are kind of data chores.

A high skill ceiling weapon is what soldier is all about. Her ability is pretty weak in comparison to other Mercs. The GL just needs to be difficult to master.

Slow at objectives as well, move speed too?

Yes, you had some really tense and memorable moments in ET:QW with that setup, you could get some last second saves with a long range rocket shot or by going berserk and charging in all guns blazing and a whole lot more, doc runs have been my favourite objective in past games but they don’t feel right here.

Good things -
Much higher fps - 130 rather than 70, even on 8v8!
Reduced spread, though had to lower sens to ‘adjust’.
Cricket baaat! Shotgun for proxy is also pretty nice now.
Airstrikes - they are to be feared now and new fx is good.
Fixing the momentum when jumping issue, though the movement still feels a little treacley.
Spec mode when dead.
New HUD, though not sure about the circles for ability cooldowns, and the health bar is backwards now? +1 for HP indicator :).
Circle indicators on cap objectives.
1st objective on Camden much better than the switch :).

Bad things -
Nade launcher, seems a bit OP now and we had a lot of spam going, good for the lols though :).
Movement still feels slow but it seems to be improving.
F keys for char selection have been rearranged, hardly a showstopper though.

don’t like the airstrike as it is now. too much spam, free kills every minute. was horrible on whitechapel because the map is way too small for its current implementation. i think there were 4+ field ops on each team which didn’t help. maybe it needs a team-wide cooldown + a personal cooldown. so make it team-wide 1 minute and personal 1 minute 30. so there’s going to be a rotation and everybody will be able to use it within a window, without a single field ops spamming it everytime it’s ready. or maybe 45 seconds team-wide and 1 minute personal.

Dont like.
Artillery laser is still incredible hard to find a spot that will accept it.
Capture points on whitechapel. this has simplified it maybe too much.
will need to play more to see if i get used to it and prefer it.
the cooldown counter. prefer old method. im constanly watching the clock tick down
by checking the number. it was easier with a bar.
still not enough nades. restricted to one ostracises me because thats a big part of my game.
i need to combine these with gunplay. but to do it on one character restricts my play and enjoyment.
ttk too fast for me. but takes me ages to kill. similar to early alpha.
cant press esc to join.

Likes.
character skins looking great.
movement feels more fluid and not sudden slow down.
spec mode on death.
cricket bat.
airstrikes look cool and work effectively.
proxys voice. louder please.
c4 in hand planting.

removal of press F to pick up and return milk jugs, pretty please it affects the flow of the game
sniper body shots still doing to far to much damage (45% maybe rather than the current 75-80%) reward the player for headshots not bodyshotting
not really a fan of the new cool down icon
spawn timer still not in
hand held c4, really preferred it when it was dropped as you could come back to planting if you had to start shooting the enemy instead now you have to restart it

more to add later on

ditch the xp stuff on the left and replace it with the ammo and nade counter, keep the health on the right

You want to nerf snipers while every other gun just got a buff with reduced spread build? Doesn’t make sense.
