Venice Teaser

(Sonix) #1

Venice is due out soon so I thought I’d make a quick vid. Check it out. It’s a low quality version and my 1st attempt at making a movie. Enjoy.

(pgh) #2

Fair enough its a video post but shouldnt this still be in the Editing ET Section? :expressionless:

(Sonix) #3

I didn’t know where to put it. If someone wants to move it…cool.

(The Wanderer) #4

Man get rid of that real player bullshit. Nobody uses that piece of shit. Put an avi or quicktime version up. I can’t see it as it is now

(MuffinMan) #5

ahem - quicktime sucks as well <g> avi is great!

happy flamewars!

(Loffy) #6

Nice teaser! I like the way the gates fall back when the tank changes. And the music is just right.
This is set in Italy… I want to be able to smell spagetti and dinner when I walk the streets. “Un espresso per favore.”

and Pizza with leaning towers.

(Drakir) #8

Looks nice Chavo!
Seems like Goldrush all over again, though u where going to have the relic under the floor “the X marks the spot”

(Sonix) #9

Sorry bout the real media crap…I hate it as well but I just had this editor for a few minutes and wasn’t able to output it to mpg like I’d wanted. Maybe I can convert it…

(pgh) #10

What is it you are using?

If its a Real Medic editor then I doubt it you’ll get MPG or AVI out it without a fight. Something like Adobe Premier or VirtualDub means you should be able to File > Save As or File > Export > Type/Compression etc.

(Sonix) #11

I’m using Ulead Media Studio Pro 7. It will render the file as an mpeg but when I play it back to test it I get no codec found errors in windows media. Sux cause I like the editor for the most part…

(StormShadow) #12

Looks awsome. I agree, realplayer is crap, try converting to avi

The map looks sweet - i cant wait to play it. Chavo is the man.

(Schaffer) #13

Hey Sonix,

you did a damb excellent job on the in house music for Venice. I liked the hornet type music when the allies take the relic. I really conjures up a frantic type atmosphere. I did also like the little tunes that have a hint of Indiana

(Irrelevant) #14

Looking good.

The gates that get hit by the tank’s a neat idea, but they look like they’re made of cardboard there.

Maybe just have the lock breaking, and the gates swinging open? Or some obscure combination of swinging and falling off their hinges?

Jus’ a suggestion…

(chavo_one) #15

Be mindful that I’m dealing with the quake3 engine. This isn’t the half life 2 physics engine here.

With the sound effects and gunfire going on around you, I promise you won’t notice the gate’s physics.

Just to let everyone know, the map is currently in beta2. I’ve had suggestions that the map is too easy for the allies to advance, so I’m currently considering what I should do to remedy this.

(Irrelevant) #16

Fair enough.

…has anyone worked out how to use func_debris yet?
:fiesta:

Seriously, I was thinking that those would be script_movers, and if the origin was in the outside bottom corners, you could have them twisting as they fall, IIRC.

[In response to the post below, 'cos I’ve made enough short posts on this thread already]

Good point. I’ll stop trying to be clever now.

(chavo_one) #17

If I twist them as they fall, then they would hit the bridge posts and I would have to recreate the physics of that collision. It’s too much for script movers.

(Sonix) #18

I got some new footage from the second beta and was able to make a better vid in mpg. Check it out.

(Schaffer) #19

Nice work Sonic. I don’t think you’ll get complaints this time, unless it’s fro anyone who is jealous because they don’t have Venice yet.

Hey Chavo, It was a hoot.

Keep up the good work guys

(Sonix) #20

Thanx dude.
