Vehicles in the game

in bf series. how come every time a car etc get shot no matter by what weapon etc it blows up and kills the crew. i think it would be far better if more often the vehicale failed to work or performace fell to a level that made it unuseful and would be abandoned. so with planes people were always jumping out before they were killed or over enemy bases. it would be better to have no parachutes and watch people try to crash land planes that were heavily damaged and going down. i hope its this way in ETQW and not the always expolding style of bf

I agree that a location based damage model would be great for vehicles. Shoot the engine and steam pours out, then vehicle cannot move forward, but doesnt blow up. Shoot the gas tank and it explodes. Shoot the tires and traction sucks and the vehicle pulls to the side. The best example might be tank fighting in Battlefield… shooting certain parts (treads, back) did more damage and added alot of depth.

I think that kind of setup would add greatly to the immersion of a game, but it would also probably slow the game down considerably. We’ve seen 5+ vehicles onscreen in the movies, but what if each had damaged subsystems (parts) and all had to have the information sent to all players? Also, a car with shot out tires might be abandoned in the field, and sit there, denying the team an asset (not as important for clan play, but in pubs it would make a difference).

I disagree with having to stay in a plane crashing though. Safety measures like ejecting is a staple of any military aircraft, and this is in the future when better options may be available. I think it’s more realisticto let players bail.

Disabling certain parts of the vehicle based on where they are damaged is jsut the same crap as “LOL you’ve been shot in the leg now you have to hump!!”.
I wouldn’t mind if the vehicle would just stay there instead of blowing up when it is completely damaged (I guess the “shoot the tires off of jeeps” in ET:QW does just this). Of course it should disappear some time later. But no side effects from shooting at certain parts of vehicles. Besides, shooting a gas tank doesn’t make it explode, that’s just a Hollywood myth.

Yes. But it would slow it down on a gameplay level. And slow = not good.

Gameplay > Realism.

From what i’ve seen in the footage. all the vehicles seemed very arcadey (good) and not very realistic. It looked basically like a way to allow you to run for great distances without losing time or stamina.
The vehicles didn’t look like some distraction, but more of a fun way to skip out on all the bunny hopping and trickjumping.

Two Words: Supermarket Trolleys.

(figvam) #27

Enough said. I move that the thread should be closed right here

Dear Figvam! 4to tu ewe mo*ew skazat’ ob etom??? I otkyda tu, cowboy?

I think it would be good for aircraft to have limited numbers of parachutes so only a certain number can bail out.

The really lucky person gets a supermarket trolly with a parachute attached to it and a set of tapir’s to pull it. Perhaps the tapirs could even have custard pie launchers strapped to their backs

And the strogg can have mobility scooters.

(Gringo) #31

Im defo gonna be GDF if strogg go around beating up grannies and nicking their scootters, aka grannie mobiles!

(thefatladysings) #32

but wouldn’t you become completely covered in custard pie then? not that that is a bad thing
