Vassily not insta-gibbing with headshot ?

(RasteRayzeR) #1

The video where I spotted Vassily’s headshot not insta-gibbing. This sounds like a bug to me.

There you have the frames where you see both shots. The first shot should have been registered as a head shot no ? The second shot was kind of far away from the head or the body of Aura. How come it registered the hit ?

For the second, they extended the hitboxes, as requested. Its a good thing for the hitboxes to be a little bigger than they look.

For the first, perhaps the body hitboxes were extended vertically as well, and the body hitbox is blocking the head one.
Actually, it feels like this is the case pretty often.

It is very difficult to headshot any Merc from behind and sawbones is one of the worst. I have mentioned it multiple times now so hoping they change it soon

If this is intended then good, it gives me more frags as I am a poorly skilled sniper  Simply checking this was as intended by the devs.

Nothing says it better than a video and a paused picture haha

You didn’t actually get a headshot there :frowning:

This isn’t intentional, it looks like the edge-corner of the chest box is sticking up a little at the back when player is running away from you.

I’ll have a look at tweaking this as much as I can

I think you should do a multitrace with VAS (and all hs gibbing mercs) and only do damage to highest multiplying hitbox you hit…

You know… so I could shoot you vertically from the anus and still get a HS? lol

(Smooth) #7

That’s why we don’t do it :stuck_out_tongue:

(PixelTwitch) #8

I would understand if the bullet was not already passing though people… but it is?
Way I see it is that it will maybe give the sniper a couple more HS per 100 kills compared to giving the correct HS 100% of the time.
Would also save you guys a LOT of time going though each Merc and doing checks everytime we complain about not getting HS.

(Smooth) #9

The hixboxes are shared per-body type. So the Sawbonez issue would have occurred for every 100hp character.

And you’re right, since we introduced the bullet passing through multiple mercs we can probably do the headshot thang :stuck_out_tongue:

I merely report a bug I have spotted in the game

(Violator) #11

I’ve reported this a few times now but I’ve had headshot dings which don’t do headshot damage from behind. It is 100% consistent on Rhino, Thunder and Fragger where it seems to be impossible to score an actual headshot from behind. I have counted 7 HS dings into the back of the head of Rhino yet he has only taken around 1/3 health damage (from Bushwhacker’s primary). Frontal headshots seem to work as normal.

(Smooth) #12

If it dings it should definitely be a headshot. If you can grab a video of this that would be great!

(PixelTwitch) #13

Its normally if you shoot someone that has died the same second or from a revive… I have never (and got thousands of min played with him) had a ding that has not gibbed unless it was respawn, revive or died the instant before.
