AstuteTaxi this game isnt the kind of fast you would think. The rush of this game comes from the timers and objectives making players have to try and push all the time, but in general, most games will be both sides finding a battle corridor and exchanging fire. This is because the map is very linear, there are usually only one or two points to choose, so Vassilis camping at the back are pretty much invincible.
The current issue with sniper rifles is that you are introducing a one hit kill weapon in a game where mercs are bullet sponges. Snipers are in other games like COD/ BF because in those games the TTK for all weapons is significantly faster. An assault rifle in other shooters can cheese you in 2-3 seconds, which is why snipers could be given one hit kills. In Dirty bomb, it takes a full 5+ seconds in order to kill the weakest of mercs, which means that Vassili’s snipers are guns that dont belong to this kind of combat TTKs.
Next is that Vassili snipers are too easy to handle. No scope sway, no bullet drop, no breath hold mechanic, any Vassili can pop out of cover and just scope in/ snipe easier.
Although the above only becomes really OP when you have Vassilis who know how to snipe, essentially locking an entire canal into a no-fly zone, the problem with PUGs is that everyone and their moms will want a one-hit kill sniper, and you get at least 2 Vassilis on your team who are camping back at spawn -trying- to snipe, providing zero contribution to the team.
The fix would be to make Vassili’s snipers not kill in a single headshot anymore. Instead, shooting an enemy tags them like how his heartbeat sensors work, turning Vassili into a support merc.
If you really want to see how a fast paced shooter is, have a look at Tribes Ascend, eveyrone is flyind around so fast that snipers have a harder time without getting a rocket to the face.
