VAC and PB Together?

(Warden) #1

Hello,
I have a question. Would it be possible for the Brink developers to integrate VAC and Punkbuster together like what Tripwire Interactive has done for Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad? VAC will be enabled by default and you could use Punkbuster in four stages:

*Stage 0: Off
*Stage 1: Access to the server screenshot functionality and streaming bans
*Stage 2: Standard PB protection that WILL NOT interfere with Steam (and the overlay)
*Stage 3: Full PB that WILL (most likely) kick for the steam overlay

Here is their thread about it:

By doing this, it would Brink more players to the arena and it would make the developers more money. It would also allow for streaming of the games to 3rd party anti-cheat sites like PBBans.com.

Thoughts?

Fair idea for their next game with certain caveats. For Brink though, cheating is so far down the list of reasons why nobody plays it’s probably written on the bottom of your shoe.

Checking shoes…Nope. Nothing written on them except new balance. lol

“Weapons balance” you say?

Weapons balance should be in every game by now.

I would say no to both, the game should have one or the other.

Since the game already uses the horrors of Steamworks I guess VAC would be fine, but then again SD doesn’t seem to do much work on Brink anymore so I doubt they would do a major overhaul like that.

Please no PB ever. Red Orchestra 2 uses pb as well and most servers have it disabled. I’ve seen hackers on pb servers as well and pb did nothing as usual except give everybody in the server random lag spikes.

Just stick with VAC, the only real moderating can be from server admins honestly.
