V2 Base released!

My latest map V2 Base has been released for Enemy Territory today!

The Map and the Terrain look good, but I think that the Axis have an hard job to denfend - so many entrances.

Two textures are missing. One for the lights and one for the clipboard.

Klick on the thumbnails to view the screenshots in a resolution of 1024x768.

I detected no further bugs.

Bah…thanks. I did remove all custom pk3’s prior to releasing and was looking for missing textures. Then I realised I had a very small file named lights.pk3 in etmain on my mapping PC… I never found the texture for the clipboard for the documents so I basically ignored it and decided to call it a “feature” :wink:

Tha map is hard to play but it is actually easier to play as Axis than Allies.
We have tried it out a lot and the gameplay is really fun, tight and intense :smiley:

I’m not 100% sure, but I think the clipboard is an RtCW wood texture.

there’s a bit of a ‘bug’ in your map I think…

after you build the ladder you can get around the axis door by walking on the ledge just below it…

tell me if you want screenshots of what I’m talking about and I’ll put them online…

Actually… you might want to take note of those “light”
model warnings… I see orange and black squares in
the ceiling.

It’s really easy to jump the wall at the allied spawn, but I guess that’s intentional.

Really good looking map, look forward to playing it. :slight_smile:

Playing the map this night was a lot of fun. Not to big and the cabinets are good placed.
Hm, the whole architecture of the base makes sense while playing. Enemys can came from everywhere. :banana:

joop sloop, that ledge is there intentionally. You will find other things like that on the map, I added them to add more options for the teams to “sneak” around.
You can actually walk the ledge from the fortress ladder all the way to the tower spawn if you want…problem is staying alive :wink:

The light’s missings is a texture that is in lights.pk3 that many mappers seem to use. I don’t plan to fix this at this time, if you want the lights get this file: http://www.srcgaming.com/downloads/et/etmain/lights.pk3
It is my mistake not to spot this before relaease (I simply missed when looking for missing textures), my bad but done is done.

Yes you can jump the wall at allied spawn, it is getting out of the base with the docs that is the tricky part :wink:

V2Base is also running in a 4-map Custom rotation on 62.105.80.93:27985

This server is one of 2 supplied by Wireplay for a UK tournament called UnterElite and we’re seriously considering using this map for it (we want to include a 2nd Custom along with SupplyDepot, which is already in). Looks great, just need to playtest it a bit now.

I found it difficult to tell where I could plant mines in
the Axis courtyard. Seems like I could (usually) only
plant in the dark grassy areas… the areas that were
lighter dirt couldn’t be mined (in most cases).

Is there an easy way to tell what’s mineable?
Is it supposed to be like this?

The spots in the yard that are not of the bright stone/ground type are areas where you can plant mines. The reason for this was to avoid “forests” of mines where you have to pass. The areas where the light ground is mixed with another texture is minable, although I agree with you that they sometimes can be hard to find. Over time I am sure you will know where to plant and not to plant.

Just to let you all know, we’ve chosen V2Base for the UK UnterElite tourney (featuring all the UK’s top Clans). It will be used in Round 3 on Weds 19th and Thurs 20th May. Demos will be available of all games played shortly thereafter.
