V-2 Factory Update (Screenshots)

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted an update on my v2_factory map. The last Alpha test was completed this week. I plan to release a public beta in 10-14 days, but I wanted to tease you all with some new images…

I’ll post a comprehensive description of objectives, etc when I release the beta. But the short summary: I’m not sure how to describe the map. It’s sort of dual objective but not really. A better descritpion is an offensive/defensive switch once the V-2 is bulit. Phase 1: Allies attack the factory to either destroy the V-2 production or delay it while the Axis defend. After 15 minutes of production by each machine (there are 3 machines), Phase 2 begins. Axis now go on offense and Allies are switched to defending. The Axis must deliver the V-2 to safety via rail and the Allies must stop the train. There are 3 ways to win: (1) Axis deliver V-2 to safety - axis victory, (2) Allies prevent delivery (time runs out) - Allies victory, (3) Allies destory all 3 machines – machine must all be down at the same time - Allied ‘early’ victory

I reworked the factory courtyard for loading the V-2 on the train (yes, that is right - I said a train!)

Status of the machines: (green complete, yellow working, off = dead; the red lights tell the completion percentage - one light for 3 minutes of production)

When V-2 production is completed, the train pulls into the station…

And the train is almost to safety…(once it enters the other tunnel Axis win)

Sounds like a nice idea - I like the way Allies stall Axis, thereby giving them less time later on to complete their game-winning objective.
And now I know where that pontoon bridge was meant for! :slight_smile:

you might want to try my soft edge water, using ydnars new alphamod volume blending, itll make your river look more natural, [heres](http://www.splashdamage.com/index.php?name=pnPHPbb2&file=viewtopic&t=7680) a dev thread weve got going in the q3map2 forum… the new blending is really easy to do, especially for any mappers with a basic skill level or higher.

and I bet you won`t ever want to go back to hard edge water afterwards :wink:

How long does it take with one player doing the objective himself as Axis?

Would be a sweet as map if it was fast in clan play… :>

For the alpha test, The V2 production took 15 minutes to complete. Once finished the V2 rocket is loaded on the train. The axis will switch from defense of the V2 factory to offense to escort the train across a bridge and through a tunnel. This should only take an additional 2 to 3 minutes.

I just returned back from a weeks vacation…fully refreshed to continue mapping :banana:

I have a few things to ‘finsih off’ – namely the 'soft-water edges ratty redemption pointed me to. If I can get that implemented easily (which it looks like it), then that is the last thing to complete before I release the beta. Barring a meltdown of my computer or the destruction of my ISP, the beta will be released Monday (maybe even tomorrow)

Nice idea!
It would be cool if They all would be one map pack. But that is a little problem with the download size.
but nothing stops the server admis to make them as a campaing.

More servers should do this sort of thing.
Put a bit of effort into creating themed campaigns, rather than just ‘slap’ yet another map into a random server map rotation.
