Using VPN/IP Tunneling to get better ping.

(eerieHelicopter) #1

Has been a long time and I still have this question. Can I use some programs like WTFast or pingzapper, those VPN Tunneling stuff to lower my latency on the game servers?

I was a little afraid of trying it while the game was with Nexon because i already got banned fro Maplestory for doing it, but now that Dirty Bomb is finally with its original parents and with a good Anti-Cheat I’m searching for a updated answer, maybe from the Devs or some ancient community members.

Thanks in advancement War-fellas

what? you could do that?
really?

how does this work?

VPN will not speed up your internet speed (ms) unless your ISP have routing issues. VPN will not reduce ping unless there is packet loss by your ISP.

okay

So, even if I use things like WTFast it will not solve my Issue?

“As I posted previously not only does it not work for me, the interface actually lies to you about your “internet ping” and loss, but the routes it goes to, some of them showed up on my malware block lists. So I would say no, it is not safe. Also not cool that it allows two way communication from each route hop.”

wouldnt use it if i were you

No! You can not magically conjure wormholes into existence or manipulate the laws of physics. The property of light and the functionallity at the backbone of the internet is not dependent on what software you install on your system. Your operating system knows all the necessary protocols.

Not how it works. A VPN will make it appear you are in another location while you are still sitting in your house (or wherever you currently are). It will not decrease your ping. In fact, it will increase it and make your internet connection slower.

Also, I believe using a VPN to access/play steam games is against Steam Terms of Service.

it is

But most people in here does not care about that. What is more important, beside his request being physical impossible in the way he imagines it, is that the anticheat will likely ban him, as it will notice that his internet connection is FUBAR.

Id say only use vpn if your a streamer to help add a small layer of protection against swatting and ddos. though that may not be 100%. but would help a bit an i know a few streamers i watch us it cuz they had ddos atacks on them.
