USER INTERFACE SUGGESTION - FAV(ORIT)ES

(Indefinite) #1

Dear moderator and/or other DB players, please don’t beat me with a stick. I know this is the subforum for mercenary suggestions, but there are no forums for any other type of suggestion, so I feel this is the most appropriate place to post this.

I believe it would be especially nice to be able to tag my favorite loadout cards. With a gold star, or any type of mark, even especially a lock symbol and the implied behavior that goes along with it. This way, players know which cards they prefer for each merc, as well as which ones not to delete/tradeup, without having to decipher each one, every time they’re looking at it.

I think a lot of people aren’t going to understand the ‘why’ behind this until they hit over a hundred hours in game, but even if you haven’t put that much time in, imagine what just changing mercs starts to look like when you start amassing 5-6 cards for every merc (you use).

Exploitable opportunity:

  • If anyone’s ever played a trading card game like Magic the Gathering, you should be familiar with sleeves. Well, like TCG sleeves, they could add a sleeves feature to DB - In order to use different types of sleeves, players would have to purchase the sleeve(s) with $ or ingame currency.
  • Not only would sleeves affect cards in that they couldn’t be deleted/traded up (“lock”) they are applied to, but also change the border around the displayed card; Not only in the menu screens, but ingame as well. We have already seen something to this effect in Cobalt cards, which have a few bevels to their corners.

No, I haven’t accidentally traded one of my cards, but having a safety in place would just be really nice. Plus, being able to know immediately which one or two cards I really want to be looking at for the next match would just make playing that much more comfortable.

[realize I didn’t quite finish the thought]

Obviously, this can go any way, with the possibility for customization, or for exclusivity. Some custom sleeves for certain events/conditions, or some cost-prohibitive fancy-smancy metallic ones (that would have a psuedo-3d sheen/luster when observed in death spec.

Not looking to pile on development sidebar, but just building on the base idea. As it is, people still drop their cookies when they see someone with an Obsidian Card. In addition to the whole help-mitigate-drunken-tradeups thing, this could be development-cost-effective route to motivating and grabbing player interest.
