Useless merc cards the thread: a story of wasted money and time

(goodSalad) #1

Ahh we’ve all probably experienced this by now, well anyone who’s wasted money on elite cases, only pulling silvers, and eventually rolling up to a cobalt
to get the most useless card of your life!
This game seriously needs a way to reroll cards stats, because wasting god knows how much money only to get an absolutely useless trash card is infuriating, i’m not spending another dime on this game till they fix this rng bull
Here’s my useless cobalt phantom, i also had tons of trash silver and gold cards that i converted into this trash

Goddamn…that card though… I do agree that there should be a rework of how you get cards. Personally I think you should get RNG cases separately for cosmetics, weapons and augments. And than in your loadouts you get to piece them together yourself. Not just one card decides all.

(goodSalad) #3

Well if they still want to earn money, add an item for like 2.50 or something , that lets you reroll the stats and weapons of a card, having this sit in my inventory is driving me insane
i wasted probably 60 bucks just to get a cobalt phantom, and this is what i got.
I like this game, but being shekel and dimed just to get a card thats usable at cobalt level is just stupid.
also this is on my steam account in case anyones gonna say this account has nothing or something along that lines… shoulda spent the wallet funds on something else like preordering fallout 4 or something…

(blamelessZuchinni) #4

You do understand that the only differences past Bronze is only looks, right? In terms of strictly weapons and augments, there is no reason to go past bronze.

(goodSalad) #5

Yes i understand that, so it should be alot easier to get a good cobalt judging that bronze are just as good
i’m looking to get a good cobalt so i can use it thats the reason behind a cobalt, if i didnt care for looks i’d use bronze

(Rjsto) #6

Can’t really complain about how you’ve spent money on something that you knew would be random and not getting what you wanted. You could quite easily get the C94 phantom you’d obviously want with in game credits, like I did

(goodSalad) #7

I didn’t expect it to be such an ungodly expensive venture and be such terrible chances
let alone for the business model to be so piss poor to not include some way to reroll a useless 60 dollar card, sadly i like the aesthetic of cobalt too much to not try, and me trying ending up in this.

All the numbers are given beforehand (case drop rates and case prices). Why did you expect it to be something else?

I knew my chances of pulling a cobalt from the actual cases was low, i rolled up till i got that phantom and i was unlucky to get the worst one you possibly can, yes i’m salty, but wasting 60 bucks to get practically nothing induces salt, i also expected there to be someway i could reroll or put this cobalt to some use, but nope i’m out in the dry with that, w/e i still got a very good gold phantom but till they add someway to use useless cobalts im not spending any money on this game again.

It does say the percentage to get cobalts. What is it, 1%? wouldn’t have my hopes up.
The way I see it, you should just 1. get the mercs you want 2. buy them the loadouts you want, and 3. only THEN start trying to go for the cobalts. Otherwise you’re gonna end up with nothing but broken dreams and piss poor mercs

I’m just saying for 5 dollars per one case you get shafted pretty hard it’s an incredibly shitty deal, i had bad foresight when going into this and im not touching this shekel and dime bullshit till its cheaper or someway to use useless cobalts.

(goodSalad) #12

Also all the people talking about the percentages of rolling a cobalt, im not talking about that at all, go back and read my comments before posting

(DB Genome editor) #13

Actually from Elite cases it’s 5%, but that’s a totally random Cobalt, which has 1:14 odds of being for the merc you want, and a further 1:9 odds of being the loadout you want. Effectively the odds of getting the Cobalt of your dreams right out of an Elite case are about 1:2500 and will only get worse as new mercs get added.

(robustWonder) #14

My suggestion, stop spending money if you can’t handle gambling. Gambling in games using real money preys on addiction and I think is a horrible way to fund a video game.

(waste) #15

I’d have to agree with this guy. Only Cobalt level
should be able to select from all available combinations.

(Jojack) #16

Don’t listen to all these guys in here. You’re salty, you deserve to be salty. I felt the same way when I spent 60,000 credits to roll the gold Fragger I sorta wanted. Can’t imagine spending $60 on elite cases and having nothing but that card to show for it.

On the other hand, you are rolling Phantom. So instead of showing compassion I will place a pox on your house, good sir.

I play phantom as a scout/assassin
not like an assault who bull charges at people
i give info to the team and pick off snipers and medics, like phantom should do
i also really like the character himself, namely his shazam line, his aesthetics, and voice, it’s a very nice character.

(Cr4zy) #18

So instead of spending $60 on shitty bad deals, maybe you shouldn’t invest into something that has no guarantee if you don’t like the result.

That’s like betting on a horse and having it finish last and complaining you won nothing, it’s idiotic at best.

This is how F2P games make money, they sell you things that have a shit chance of actually giving you what you want so you hand over more and more money until you get what you want.

(bumbertyr) #19

These complaints are baseless and pointless, you payed the money knowing the odds and knowing that anything past bronze is vanity. Nothings wrong with the business model the issue is your self control with your money.

(goodSalad) #20

I knew it was a waste of money, but tbh its a very shit deal at the current model, and if it continues this way less and less people will want to buy into the shill, i only did it cause i love the game and i want a pimped out phantom
