USE YOUR MICS!!! (xbox)

(jaybaker91) #1

after playing brink for a while now im finding my self joining many games and leaveing because no one has a mic.
im really enjoying brink but i would like to post this to remind players that the game is based on teamwork however there is no teamwork because no one is useing there mics so please guys next time you play brink think of how much more fun it will be talking away with your team-mates and working out strats againts the other team

Please do this on ps3 too. The game is nigh on impossible if you can’t communicate with each other.

(DemiGod) #3

Christ, no one does this on PC either. Even after I make a fireteam with people and we’re all like “CAN YOU HEAR ME, I HEAR YOU, OK GOOD I CAN HEAR YOU, DO YOU STILL HEAR ME CAUSE I WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU CAN HEAR ME WHEN I SAY SOMETHING.”

And then no one says a damn thing all game.

(jaybaker91) #4

well at least the people your playing with are useing there mics lol

(trigg3r) #5

yeah, i hope more ppl would start using their mics. It’s always more fun and more easy to do some teamwork.
I’m usually the only one in the server doing the talking :frowning:

This is such utter BS. Its got to be sad if all your teamplay boiles down to telling people what to do.
If people don’t play together without mics, they are not going to be doing much better with mics. Teamplay does not take communication to accomplish.

Also, for those of us that come from europe, mics are not all that helpful with so many languages being spoken.

Mate, I Mic-up all the time with friends, but am loath to do so with randoms as:

  1. Every player using a mic appears to be an American teen or pre-teen, and uses words such as ‘dawg’, ‘bitch’ and ‘homie’. In a screechy, high-pitched and over-excitable voice that, when faithfully amplified by my snazzy 'phones, quickly gives me a headache that would kill a civvie.

  2. Brink already fritzes my 'phones out several times during an average game, not sure why, I’ve adjusted every level/slider I can, but it still happens. VOIP appears to amplify the problem (pun intended…sorry! )

  3. Instructions given to TDM-types, in good faith and without harsh language are mocked and then ignored anyway, often accompanied by streams of profanity - I often team up with my 15 year old son, and he doesn’t need to hear that stuff.

  4. THE JERK-OFF. You know who and what he is…and you KNOW he’s out there.

I’d love to play the 5vs5 Competition games, which are said to be great fun. But w/o a way of lobbying up with trusted mates, I’m not touching a public VOIP mode with a ****ty stick.

You need to be in fireteams…

(StillBatusBrad) #9

Err…yes. Please read the first line of my post again.

Yeah I dont get it. COD everyone has Mics.

With Brink everything is layed out so a mic isint really needed. But it would be cool to yell at sh-tty medics. You know they just pick’em bc of the health boost.

OP, I’m assuming you’re talking about people in your Fireteam or about playing in a game mode where teamspeak is enabled, because in most modes it’s not.

I don’t mind that XBOX players tend not to speak. I tend to play at weird hours, but in most other games, where teamspeak IS an option in every mode, nobody speaks or even wears a mic. I think of it as the XBOX Live war is over–reasonable people gave up on the whole communication thing and the jerks won–because that tends to be the only people trying to “talk” in a game, and I don’t even run into many of them anymore.

At least Brink has some built-in systems to help you out. As a soldier, I can see when your ammo is low. When I’m a medic, I can definitely see when you’re downed or need a buff. When I’m an engineer, I can see if you need a weapon buff. When you spot enemies, they show up on my minimap. Not to say players always take advantage of these things. In my first week of playing I was lucky to get a buff that wasn’t my own, even when I was tossing buffs out to my team like they were candy.

And it really doesn’t take a mic to know, for example, if you’re the last guy alive on your team, maybe you should wait for your respawned teammates to catch up with you before you rush the objective. That just takes some good sense, and you don’t even see that sometimes. It also doesn’t take a mic to know that you’re almost always better off with a teammate next to you than you are alone. I’ve been on good teams that played well together without mics, but just as often I’ve been on teams with players who don’t seem interested in working as a team, even on the most basic level, let alone pulling off complicated pincer moves or setting up crossfires. And I’m not sure how me yelling at those players over a headset would achieve that.

its wishful thinking but i got brink as a gift and i am poor as all hell so the chances of me getting a mike is really low. whats your gamertag i see alotta reacurring names out there and i have been wondering

(sirius89) #14

If i would know how the ****ing VOIP on PC works i would love to use my mic.

Do i really have to be in a fireteam to communicate with my team? How lame is this?

(Oschino1907) #15

I know not everyone online has mics but I myself have been activily friend seraching and in the past week have had many matches with literally everyone in one big firetam with all having mics. You just got to start random fireteams and invite everyone every match and when you find guys with mic or that are good (might not have mic on that game or day) and add them to friends list, i have deleted alot and added many, all with mics!

Instead of complaing about mics solely why not complain about the douches that dont even want to join fireteams, have had games also where i may be by myself or with 1-2 friends and i send multiple fireteam invites to players not in one and match after match they just dont want to or refuse to join which tells me chances are they also have no mic. Dont get why people would get this game if they hadnt planned on teaming up with others or talking to anyone, not that they always play bad but more often then not they score lower then everyone thats in the fireteam.

tbh mate i dont want people to put there mics in to tell them what to do… but it really does help if someone gets downed and says where the enemy is or says guys dont run that way theres 4 guys therfor saveing me a death and time spent as i can just run another way
