US Domestic server hosts gone?

(Faux) #1

I was playing (or trying to play, rather) Brink earlier today and every single Campaign match I joined was hosted outside of the US. The first two were in Brazil, the next in Australia, then one in England, then France, and finally, the Netherlands.

I just want to play the campaign with the bots. Am I doomed to be stuck with a 250ms+ latency?

Now that I think about it, why can’t I just play locally and offline? Is it really that big a deal at this point?

There’s no reason you can’t play offline with bots only. You usually have to do the main obj’s yourself though. You just have to set the match settings that way after selecting campaign.

LOL- welcome to Brink, not even 3 months old and the game, in NA, died faster than Wolfenstein 2009… Now, that’s an accomplishment!! Wonder if there is an ‘Achievement’ on Steam for that?

:stroggbanana:

There was a server bug, servers are being updated after most recent patch by the GSPs.

(Azev2000) #5

They are all updated. Just no one is playing on them. There is currently less than 212 people playing brink in the entire world. WTF SD should be ashamed to bring this game to any shows. Unless its still images because the artists deserve there credit, but thats about it.

Every Thread you post in, you critisise, and that is almost every single thread. Why do you bother. If you don’t like the game, stay away from its forums. Even if you paid full price for the game, you have got your money’s worth of whine.

 lmao tue

Ah! You are indeed correct, and now I look the fool for forgetting my ability to do so.

Still, it is a little depressing to have to play with bots only; I had a lot of fun when Brink launched by playing with other people. :frowning:

Any version of campaign you have setup is easily duplicated in Freeplay except you don’t get credit for the campaign specific achievements. In Freeplay you can make private match invite only with just you or up to 8 on your team vs. bots just like campaign would be. Plus in Freeplay your stats are being tracked. IMO there’s little reason to even play Campaign except for the achievement piece or if you want to see the story in order (which you could do theoretically through map voting in freeplay as well).

I don’t play on PC, but maybe switching to Freeplay (unless you’re working on achievements) would increase the number of servers available?

Also as a previous poster suggested a bunch of ppl have been having problems with their servers.

Well I dunno about that! I think Wolf2009 was pretty much dead within 3 weeks of release. Funny thing is, I get more traffic to my Wolf2009 server then I do Brink. Go figure. Hell I think my Enemy Territory server gets more traffic!

Brink is dead, and for me a huge disappointment from SD. Sad that ET seems to be the height of their creativity, and it was a free game.
