uploading map to server

(isbowhten) #1

a friend of mine wanted to help me testing my map.
he knows how to put maps on a server, he did it often but if he starts my map his server shuts down.
any ideaS?

None if you don’t tell us the error message or console log. Atleast I’m not gonna try to guess all the thousand possible errors.

my friend (just a internet-friend) jsut told me that the server shuts down… i lost the connection for unknown reason (now my friend is offline)

Right off the bat, it can be two things in my experience.

He needs to edit the maprotation .cfg and add the .bsp name of the map into it.
Or he forgot to restart his server.

he restarted but perhaps he forgot the first thing… i will tell it him tomorrow.

This will not cause the server to crash since the new map isn’t loaded in that case. My guess is that he already configured his maprotation, and the map just has a critical bug.

set the following cvars to get some more information;

//one of these creates the etconsole.log file, but I don’t recall which one
seta g_log “logfile.log”
seta g_logSync “1”
seta logfile “3”

well i donT think the map has a bug,
in localhost it works at both PCs

my friend said to me that mapcycle.cfg isn’T needed to start it… he did not want it to run automatically cause he tested it on his (at that moment) empty PUBLIc server

Ask someone else that you know that has an ET server to try it. Then you know for sure if its a map or a server problem.

If you want me to, I can host the map for a few days.

Just send me a PM
