Upgrade feedback

The upgrade process for DB always seems a bit hit and hope. Usually the launcher will start with its many spam ads for the various Nexon games but do nothing else, requiring a restart. Running Fiddler (http debugging tool) shows a lot of traffic so stuff is going on but no feedback in the UI that anything is happening.

Clicking on the DB icon in the launcher bring up the info screen with the large ‘Redeem key’ button. Nothing happens for a while (a couple of minutes).

Clicking ‘Library’ gives some indication that something is going on and eventually a progress bar appears on all tabs:


It could do with some indication that it needs to update when the launcher starts, rather than waiting for two minutes and hoping for the best.

Once it has finished, it does the verify process, but clicking ‘Play’ seems to do the verify again. The good news is for the first time it actually launches the game without having to restart the launcher.

On launching for the first time, the music is playing but I just get a black screen for ages.

Of course I have to rebind all my controls / turn off the graphics options AGAIN!! :mad:

Not sure why you bother spending time on the Games menu, it’s like browsing the Steam Store and expecting your installed games to update, just skip that step entirely and go straight to your Library.

Also if you wait a while the game will auto-update without you having to do anything.

I spend as little time as possible in the games menu, it always comes up as the default though. I’m describing the journey that a typical user will go through.

My point was for a couple of minutes there is no indication that the game is updating at all, it may have crashed for all I know. Eventually it does kick in but two minutes seems unreasonable with no feedback. When the game doesn’t need to update its fairly quick to launch so not sure what the delay is about.

I had noticed the same. Bad user experience design. But I think this issue would be better being mentioned in the Nexon forums, after all it’s their launcher.

HUH !!!

I click on launcher, then wait, updates install and game launches with no other input, takes a while or if there’s no update I go straight to game
