UPDATED - added treelines texture pack.

ok… this time around ive redone the foliage models, made them 1/2 the
polys of the stock models for the grass ( as used in radar ) but i have also
included 9 other foliage models that use the textures in plants_sd.

there are 12 foliage models of the plain variety, grass… dry grass… green grass, the milkweed… and just tall grass blades…

in addition to those 12, there are 12 of the same that wave, prefixed with a w_

so 24 foliage models total. i have included a test map called foliage_example2.bsp where you can
run around and see just the stock grass like in radar, waving… it uses the
new models i made. i did not put in any other of the 9 foliage models into the
map as they are suited to more of a day time map… but you can play around
and see what models you like/dont like for any map you intend to add foliage to.

again, lower poly than the stock et foliage so it doesnt hurt to add grass if you
thought before it might be to much of an fps impact.

also, the foliage_example3.map included uses alphamod blending for the terrain,
and if your intrested in seeing how its done/layed out… then the map shows
an example of this.

EDIT: im going to consolidate all my models into one thread, not this one
but the next i start for models, but i’ll update this one on new models i
release.

Animated Construction Crates, and some Paper Notice models.

These models are ones i released before, but not for doing constructions,
i have reworked the models somewhat and they can now be used when
you make any constructible that you want crates for. Basicly when an
engineer starts the construction, the tools on the crates will start to work
until the construction is built, or times out ( decayed ). these models
are just for eye candy, they dont do much but are more intresting to watch
than the stock ones. ( for new maps only, they will not replace the stock crates in precompiled maps ).

test map and script, plus readme in the pk3 that should cover it all on how
to use them.

Paper Notice models, these are just misc_models and one is used in the
anim_con_crates.bsp included in the test map above. 6 models total, based
off 2 models… 2 are ase models that you can edit to have your own image
of a notice.

EDIT: Updated, added treelines texture pack1, some textures and shaders
to create distant treelines for the illusion of a vast landscape as in Call Of Duty…

7 textures/shaders total in this pack, sizes of 256x512 and 512x512
2 tiling, one has end textures and 3 stand alone tree textures of dark,med,light trees.

i needed these for a project, but i may make some more and bush textures also for a pack2.

thanks for comments and the mirror. basicly the idea for the test map was to
show the grass models, it could have been a smaller map for this… but i started
off by making a long road, top down view and made it bend a few times, then
from a side view made it rise and fall for some dips in the road. did the sloaps
next and finally connected it to a standard grid like terrain… it needed some
detail, so i added the hydro poles, fence and trees… the e_phonebooth model
is something i started a while back from watching band of brothers, from the
first episode when easy company was in the english country side running
drills, and for some reason along this country road there was a phone booth
at the side, it seemed so surreal… i had to make one.

and at that point i had to stop, because i wanted to add more to the test map,
but then it was becoming a ‘thing’… and the intention was a test, and not to
make a complete map. the test does show however that terrain does not
need to be locked into some standard x/y grid, if you can imagine how it
should look… then you should be able to create the brushes anyway you
need to complete that look, and alphamod blend them.

although… a few rocks here and there jutting from the ground… some
bushes and maybe a broken down truck in the ditch would probably
complete the scene… needs some cricket sounds in the ditches… and
phong the wood on the poles/posts… ect…

the stock ones your edited, could theoretically server admins make it into a mod for their server?

well, no… if you mean by having the models on the server so that stock maps
like radar will use them. the foliage placement and models are put into maps
at compile time, so the map bsp cant be changed. these models are for new
maps to make use of.

2 new ones in this thread. ( until i organize everything else… )

animated construction crates ( test map included )
and some misc_models for paper notices. ( one is used in the test map )

devmap anim_con_crates.bsp and go engineer to see how the crates work.

What happens if you use it?
I’ve seen the possibility to get a message printed to screen while being near an entitiy.
Just trying to remember the names of the maps I’ve seen this.

I think you can make it play a sound to the player that presses it (read the letter to them, lol).

cant remeber the name but its the map thats Christmas themed where there are red ! marks that tell you things like you can use the cannon to jump across the map

Yeah target_print is what is used, you can set it up with either trigger_multiple so it prints message whenever walk through trigger or link it up with func_invisible_user and you press use to read the message.

@nUllSkillZ, it just private prints a message to the user and has a paper
ruffling sound when used.

@Der’saidin, i use a variety of programs for md3, nphernos md3 compile,
milkshape and gmax, but modeling is always done in blender3d.

@cpthank, yes… any model i post is for anyone to use freeley and in anyway
you think is needed to help your map.
