Update on old info

(0xT1) #1

Exedore mentioned some information has become obsolete or has been cut out because of the release date
Unfortunate clarifications of some old information: [ul]
[li]You can maintain up to 10 characters, not 16.
[/li][li]You unfortunately cannot transfer XP between characters. It’s something we wanted to do, but was ultimately a casualty of getting the game finished for May.
[/li][/ul]
Could we get an update on previously known features that have been left out or changed?

(Herandar) #2

Might want to check the Compendium updates.

(0xT1) #3

Was Exedore’s clarification on the Compendium? Before he posted I mean.

(DouglasDanger) #4

How could info be on the compendium before the info was released to the public?

(Mustkunstn1k) #5

I really hope that they bring these in post-launch. I don’t just want patches that fix bugs or DLC which has new maps / clothes. It would be great to have actual updates.

I mean it isn’t fair to compare anything to Valve really, but they haven’t just introduced a 100 new weapons and a 20 new maps to Team Fortress 2, but also overhauled the menu, introduced bots, added training. Now they will soon improve the recording etc. I truly wish other games could grow like that.

(0xT1) #6

Thats precisely my point

(JeP) #7

He’s talking about Compendum’s UPDATES, there are two, and the regroup new or modified informations :

http://www.fragworld.org/frag/brink/brink-compendium-update-1.html

http://www.fragworld.org/frag/brink/brink-compendium-update-2.html

Other things remove :

 • intel dynamic objective to balance teams
 • soldier’s shield ability

I think there’s an other thing that have been cut… but can’t find it for now.

(0xT1) #8

What I’m trying to get at is that they could tell us what other similar changes have been made but haven’t reached the public yet

NO. Seriusly, ****ing, god damn it NO.
The proper way are bug fixes and patches, new weapons are either DLC or a mod.

(SockDog) #10

Just wanted to say I get ya, you’re not mad or explaining yourself poorly. There are just some seriously slow witted people on the forum today.

On Topic:

Wouldn’t mind a recap of some of the core features of the game, which I sure we could then nitpick for contradictory information. Think that would be a little easier than expecting SD to pluck stuff off the top of their heads which as changed and is important to us.

(TiN TiN) #11

Body type does not effect your ability meter. Old news but new for some.

(Wraith) #12

Good news indeed.

(Herandar) #13

I thought the ability differences made sense, but they aren’t that big of a change.

Hmm… that’s what I said? Ways to support game post-launch:

 1. Patches that have bug fixes and possibly balance fixes. A lot of games have these, but only for the biggest issues usually.

 2. DLC that you often have to pay for. New maps usually, but could also be items.

 3. New actual features or improving the core things. Rarely done.

I would hope that Brink has all of them. But obviously the first one is most important.

Why would you fix bugs with a DLC or a mod, when a patch is meant to do that?

(0xT1) #16

I agree.

Wonder if we’ll be getting some info soon, we’re little over a month away from release.

(tokamak) #17

Yeah I liked the differences as well. Then again, I can’t know how this balanced out.

(CapnHowdy21) #18

I can see why the might need to make the number of supply/pips standard across builds.

A lot of your teamwork abilities need those, if your out, then your probably not supporting the team as much.

Also lights have less health, can only use lighter weapons. I guess the figured better movement wasn’t enough to offset all that and less resources for abilities.
