So Phantom will be less visable than before, but more visable than now…

I’m fine with this. The bad Phantoms who just sprint with their katana can’t get kills as easily while good Phantoms can be very disruptive still.

Just add a delay so they can’t decloack with the katana already up your ass unto your brain.
Invisibility has always been a problem in games (in real life too but not so much) and all we can do to balance it is adding something around it and not tone down or up the invisibility itself.
I’m not against a phantom passing by me without being seen/heard, only against him killing me before I can even realize he’s here.
You only should have time to react to make the fight fair.

@Eox It’s all a matter of how the unstealth delay is implemented. I believe it’s a far healthier concept than stealth that is 100% invisible for some who don’t have the rig for the right graphic settings and 100% visible for those who have.

“Near invisibility” has never worked in any multiplayer game I’ve played during the last 13 years. It was either brokenly op and ruining competitive, utterly useless or a pub stomp component (which Dirty Bomb should not encourage as player retention is already bad enough without a dedicated rookie slaughter merc).

True invisibility with a noticeable drawback is the way to go - or no invisibility at all.
Frankly, I wouldn’t mind if his ability was changed to a non-stealth ability (e.g. a dash). That’ld be far healthier in the long run.

Whether you’re for the change or not, it’s hard to argue that making a change this promptly is a bad thing.

I’m seriously digging the renewed focus on the forums and community. A year ago this response would’ve take 2 - 4 weeks

Apply gently to the affected area to reduce the pain

Also, i dont like this move by SD to re-nerf phantom back to the previous condition.
having a sound while cloak being active is just stupid.

Phantom needs to be able to get de-cloaked when gets shot at when hes cloaked.
Phantom needs to have a louder decloak sound (instead of cloak sound when hes active)
Phantom needs to have a longer decloak sound

you can mask sound with explosive, but you cant mask visibility

we dont need more visible phantom. More visible Phantom is a dead Phantom. Even with 110 HP.

Oh look, devs are already ready to shit all over phantom after finally buffing him from his useless state just to please the whiny people. How about leave everything alone and actually add the one thing that was posted in your Phantom Role-Call video, “Attack Delay while Decloaking”.

I personally think the best way is to make him:
Completely invisible
Apply delay to actions until fully decloaked
Allow Redeye to be able to see cloaked Phantoms
Force Phantom to be uncloaked when hit by Enemy EMP
When Phantom hit by EMP, Increase his cooldown or lock his skill and cooldown for a few seconds
Leave Phantom cloaked when shot

The simple things.

Phantom’s real issue is still that he is a potato in comparison to other mercs, especially at higher end play. If you play him for EMP you would be playing Hunter now, simply because ranged EMP > cqc EMP. Being able to EMP from relative safety or sneak and just EMP your feet if you’re up close is just always better than having to attempt to sneak for an EMP. Phantom also doesn’t have killing potential over other mercs.

Essentially the ONLY thing Phantom has is a case similar to Proxy where he’s just a merc that’s focused around being fun and really he is just a bad version of other mercs(similar to how Proxy is essentially a shitty budget Fletcher). As a studio, accept that not all mercs are equally usable in every scenario OR rework him so much that he actually competes well with other mercs and offers something they don’t. The (near)full invisibility actually offered something unique that can be used well when given some time and practice but now you(the studio/balancing) is just showing that you have no backbone again because at the smallest amount of outcry from a 'we don

@Lord_Coctus Isn’t the irony that Phantom players have to be good after a nerf, but all the whiny players don’t have to during the rework? You know, 3 days after the patch went live and NO ONE adjusted to the new patch yet. Only see it as a way to moan over something they do not like and trying to stomp it to the ground as soon as possible. 3 Days.
