Unwilling Crosshair Movement

(CoD4Fun) #1

in some cases i can see that a specific player connecting to the server causes all players to move his crosshair unwillingly to the sky or somewhere else, without intention. anybody knows what is causing this ? maybe deep inside the source code a bug or sth ? i was always wondering about that.

noquarter?

afaik its a mouse thing… not game specific.
Buy a good mouse = problem solved.

Same thing happened to me when i had 5 euro mice, sometimes it just flips out or starts moving of it’s own accord…

read the main post again.

yes he said when a player connects, but I don’t think this is the case, just pure coincidence…

(IndyJones) #6

‘causes all players’… so it’s simply unrelated to client mouse. this bug was happening very often on old noquarter (all players ‘mouse’ was moved up/they started to use kick (foot) or fire once).

(CoD4Fun) #7

thats right. it is always when there is a connection of a certain player and it is all, at least more than one person, experiencing that.

cant say if it is modrelated. at jaymod it is definitely happening. nq i think also has it, but not sure, but when indyjones says.

well as i said I used to have that problem too, but since I bought a G9 never again, now I have a razer mamba.
And I play alot of jaymod.

Probably caused by extended key characters like é ë ß etc. Mostly used by players from Scandinavian countries but also Germany and France etc.

Maps like Cortex with French objective descriptions will also cause this to happen.

But you must be using a pretty old mod then? Like IndyJones said, this has been fixed in NQ for quite some time now. Should not happen in ETPro either, not sure about ETPub and Jaymod…

These characters will usually be replaced by a dot . on the server visually, so just ask those players to rename/remove the extended characters.

Hey.
Well I had the same problem today in servers.
Servers are running on Jaymode 2.1.8.
There was one player connected.
The wholse sittuation started from Oasis map.
People complained about lag etc but there was no lag.
In further investication it was obivious that when ever the person writes something then most of the players aim jump up/down.
After the player disconnected all was back to normal.
I followed him to other server which was running on Gold Rush map and situation ws the same.
When ever that current player typed something other players aim jumped up/down.

This has also taken place time ago but then the player did admit that he did use somekind script or tweak but then didnt know to be aware.

So I don’t think is problem of cheap mouse or different lang. cuz both of persons has claimed to speak english as first language.

I hope to hear some more info in advance cus its really annoying.

Thanks in advance.

i also experienced that, but i couldnt redirect it to someone who wrote sth. i only experienced this when someone was connecting. like that ascii names mentioned above.

maybe that guy used somekind of hack exploiting that bug

I had the same problems with my old mouse, i also bought a G9 once, and i never had that crazy mouse-bug again… Never… not when people connect or chat.
stealth6 has a good point here. He’s not talking nonsense.
With my old mouse it did happen a lot while turning view rapidly; I suddenly was looking up in the sky and spinning around automatically… things like that.
For old mice it may help a bit to change Windows and ET mouse-settings: lower 1 speed, increase the other (so movements in-game stay the same),… it helped me out. But a good mouse completely solved the problem.

Btw: For the coming NQ that footkicking-players buggy is fixed, and i just want to say this: it is not related to extended ASCII-characters at all, nor to connecting people.

Greetings,
C…
