Unreal engine 4 ? cause now it's free !

Any plan for this engine in the futur ? This engine looks really amzing for modding.
Is it easy to move from UE3 to UE4 ? and the opposite ? For example is it possible to build a map on this engine and use it as custom map on DB ? Cause I already created an account to start working with this new amazing tool.
Most part for my work but it can be nice to have fun with such a great tool, like making maps for example.

The modding tools and the share option (weapons, maps, mods, …) are just perfect !
We really need something like this for DB !

The graphics looks totally amazing !! And much better net code to.
Lot of HUGE improvements !

Pretty sure they can’t just import a map from the UT SDK into DB. For more info take a look in the graveyard

This is the closest we’ve gotten:

It would be pretty cool if the UE4 tools could import from UE3, but I doubt it. They also have to eventually release the game, imagine how many years it would take to finish remaking it on UE4… we’d never get to play the final version.

Careful BomBaKlaK, you’re getting saliva all over the floor :P.

UE4 for Dirty Bomb? No, no plans for that.

I’m sure this question has been raised before, there may be more detailed answers laying around here, but on the whole you can’t simply “import” DB into UE4, or export content from UE4 to be slotted into DB. A considerable amount of customisation has gone into the version of UE3 that we’re using in order to get Dirty Bomb to work and feelthe way it does. Even if that wasn’t the case, the change would still be a monumental undertaking. Games generally don’t change engine at this stage in development, with good reason. On the whole, there aren’t really a ton of compelling benefits that UE4 offers, that can’t be realised another way with UE3 and Dirty Bomb.

OK I understand well the “amount of work”, thx for the answer.
So all what we need is an SDK  with the share option we have in UE4 (skin, mods, maps, and more) This will set your game in the long term, and keep the community alive.

Port and SDK provided by Santa Claus. I’m sure he has some free time in the warmer half of the year…

this is an absolute need for the community to be “alive” !
