Unranked MM

Hey, all.

I am not sure if this has been suggested before as I am new to the forums, but it’s a concept that is used very successfully in Dota 2.

Basically, they have Unranked matchmaking where you have access to straight away against other people of the same rank, but it is totally unranked and just there so that new players can learn the MM system. I think DirtyBomb could benefit from the same system as it would learn new players the MM game mode and also make it more active. As there is a level cap to normal matchmaking at level 7, new players would play unranked matchmaking till level 7 then they would get promoted to the Ranked matchmaking.

There is probably ways that the system could be improved and tweaked I just thought I would throw the suggestion out there and see what the community thought.

Regards.

Agree!

I definitely think casual matchmaking is the way to go, as it allows for balanced games without all that added stress&tension from your e-penis, i mean rank being affected.

Yep. I don’t see why there can’t be matchmaking for casual play either. Dirty Bomb just doesn’t work well with people of vastly different skill levels in the same match.

I think they should separate out the play now functionality and the server browser. Obviously still offer servers for the browser, however, separate to the play functionality. This way they could also split people up more evenly and avoid some servers filling up completely while others only have 1 - 2 people on.

Dirty Bomb doesn’t yet have the player base for stellar matchmaking, however, they could at least sort people in to rough tiers.

Additionally, it would also solve the issue of obnoxious pub stomping premades. If you want to pub stomp you use the server browser. People can opt out of pub stomps using the play now functionality.

We have to remember this is the closed beta, so it’s our job to let the developers know what we want, and it seems a lot of people want to see the MM revived, with more purpose and more players interested.

Hopefully that’s what this system would achieve, given the right implementation.
