Unlock all mercs in one big pack?

(worthyStew) #1

Hello!

I was wondering, will you ever make a pack on steam that unlocks all mercs now and maybe future ones as well for a one time fee? As of now it’s quite a bit to unlock each merc for money. I’d much rather pay 50 euros to unlock it all instantly. I do realize you probably make more money this way. But I also think you would sell quite a bit of bulk packs as well. Some people don’t want to play everything, then there is the option of one merc.

Also maybe something simular with loadouts? 20 euros for 1 merc loadouts is quite a lot, maybe do a pack where you can choose several cards from different mercs in one bundle? Since you probably won’t ever use all of the loadouts for one merc.

The idea has definitely been brought up by other players before and I don’t think it’s a bad one BUT there would be some risks trying to implement something like this right now. Since we are still in beta features/mercs get moved around and prioritized so we would hate to promise things and have them either moved or change. So having a one time fee/subscription process of sorts without really knowing what you’re going to get and when isn’t a good experience.

Make a season pass and split the characters into seasons! An example would be like Killer Instinct’s character distribution.

I dunno how you guys could make it work for DB, maybe when some new maps release or something drop 3 new characters with them, and that could be a season pass advantage or something.

I dunno, I’d like a way to unlock all mercs though.

Killer Instinct probably has the best model I’ve ever seen for a game that can be bought as normal in a light version (characters only for $20 per season), a fully featured version (characters and all cosmetics for $40 + other perks like older KI games) or you can buy each character individually. They also do the character rotation system as well.

That system is pretty much universally loved and KI is doing extremely well in part due to that type of non-scummy purchase system. It allows the devs to always have revenue coming in per season, it keeps new content and adjustments constantly coming into the game, keeps people excited for new things and allows everyone to buy/play how they want.

I don’t know if something like that can be done for DB or should be but I do love how Killer Instinct has been released/sold. Also, as a side note, MS recently said they would sell the Shadow Jago skin + all other sales would go to tournaments for KI up to 100,000 for the rest of the year. They gave the community two weeks. The 100,000 was hit in less than 2 days. Now that is some amazing support by a community that loves it’s game.

But someone could spend $1000 buying mercs, cases and boosters. How does that make any sense?

I vouch for it not making any sense. (Which is why I do it)

SMITE did this back in BETA and I’m sure they made bank off this idea, even though they nerfed and buffed the gods. Just give a warning stating things may change, It’s not that big of a deal and I would be sure to pick it up!

(mrlong2) #8

It’s really not a big deal to nerf and buff things. =/

I was kind of hoping Splash Damage would go down a similar route for a pay-once method like in Smite.

Then again, I suppose paying $29.99 for all the mercs would make Nexon a lot less money compared to $10 per merc.

I don’t really agree with how it’s a bad idea at all regarding it’s beta status, as many people have said, SMITE accomplished this with no issues whatsoever and it’s a very solid pay model. I’d be 100% more interested in playing this game more often if there was something like it, as it stands I just have no real appeal for grinding out money to unlock mercenaries.

Not really, if it’s $10 then i simply won’t buy mercs or think twice before i spend money…

While i get what youre saying i feel like not many people are going to pay real money to unlock all of the mercs. I spent 20 unlocking two of them and i absolutely refuse to spend anymore. Most of my friends call me stupid for even spending that much on just two players out of like ten in a game. Smite has the right idea. 30 bucks unlocks the full game. No one cares if mercs get nerfed or buffed. That logic is flawed. If one merc gets nerfed then i have the entire rest of the list to pick from whereas right now your pay plan is the exact opposite…and what youre “trying” to avoid. If nader or rhino get nerfed im screwed out of 10 dollars.

@MissMurder Sorry but this conclusion makes absolutly no sense. I’d rather have the full package for a, and please read it with care, ->viable<- price. i already paid 50 bucks on this game. I could really get a headache when i think that there are still 7 mercs to come. I already tried unlocking Fletcher with in-game credits and it was a goddamn farmfest i don’t want to nor have the time to repeat again, even as an avid gamer.

You are seriously expecting the customer to either pay 180€ for all the mercs (or 150€ if you do a little work around with the merc starter pack), which is more than DOUBLE the price for an established triple A title, or to just pick their favourite merc? And they can’t even decide which is their favourite merc because you have to play at least a few days before even knowing how the merc plays out in the long run.

This issue has bugging me from the beginning on. I think i speak for the majority when i say that we want all the mercs in the game at our disposal when it’s released and also that none of us is willing to flat out spend 180 bucks , even if it’s a good game, which it is.

Now let me put it out clear again: If you plan on keeping the (ridiculous overpriced) 10 bucks for a merc to have some kind of cherry pick system, so be it. But you should work out the option to simply buy the whole thing as one big pack (for a reasonable price). 50€ is reasonable for a title like dirtybomb as you would make a big chunk of money from every customer who wants to own the whole game.

In my case i guess i am eff’d in the bonkers as i already have spent the amount of money i would be paying for a whole game but i would really wish for the rest of the coming community and userbase that they don’t have to put up with this.

I’ve personally bought mercenary starter pack, it’s a very good deal… you get 3 mercs and 35k in-game cash for about $20 which is a great deal.

Though I totally refuse to buy any mercs with real money, I may buy a loadout card as I am willing to let go 2 beers for nice loadout card, but £7.99 is a price of indie title which i can USUALLY playtest. if i’d want to buy remaining mercs that are out there then it is price for you can get recently released Witcher 3… and there are already announced 2 new mercs to come.

I would totally buy some sort of “all mercenaries pack” but SD did one ridiculous thing, they locked themselves away from selling cosmetics and as it stands currently I assume that buying mercs appears to be their main source of income, or is it the elite cases? While i understand that many games have some sort of gamble system(I guess there will be christmas cases, easter cases, etc. to come) i personally relly hate those… as “not so lucky” person i loathe this system.

And on top of that, £3.49 to get % chance to get card i want out of way over 90 is just a ripoff… prices of those cases seem to be taken from outer space :S

PS.
It’s not that I refuse to spend money on game, During the time i played APB Reloaded i spent 73857 G1C, which is about $920, thing is… I demand to get reasonable content for the money i spend, and currently as it stands DirtyBomb doesn’t provide it.
