Unknown Bug Report for Producing Tracemap in ET--HELP!!

(try3dnow) #1

:banghead:
Thanks for taking the time to read and respond to this!
I’m getting a message (“BBox entity is being linked at world origin. This is probably a bug.”)
The result is a 257kb blank tracemap. I’ve tried to figure this one out, but alas, i need some outside expertise to figure out this one.

What is causing this to happen? How do i fix it?

This is what I have done to try to fix the problem:
A.Moved the entire map away from the origin and recreated the
mapmins and mapmaxs.

B. Ran the debug brush utility and ungrouped those brushes

C. Put a big square brush underneath the map and tried tracemap -(I got this suggestion from someone else - No result.

I am at a complete loss. Is Radiant screwing things up in the BSP process?

Someone out there must have run into this before. Help!!

Thanks - Try3d

Radiant can’t screw up the BSP process. All radiant does is take care of brushes, texturing, etc. It doesn’t have anything to do with compiling.

I’ve never run into this personally but there might be some error during compile. After BSP’ing check the log / compile text one line after the other, there could be an error printed. Also there might be a lonely origin brush. Origin brushes have to be linked to something, they can’t be part of worldspawn. IIRC, q3map2 will remove it but maybe something went wrong somewhere.

I went through all the enitities that are origins. No dice. Thanks MadJack for the tip, though. I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for that possiblity in future maps.

Does anybody else have any ideas on what is causing the trace map not to be produced with and error message of:“Bbox entity is being linked at world origin…”

This is killing me! The trace map produced comes out blank.

Anybody ever run into this glitch? And if so, how did you fix it??

Thanks

I’ve just skimmed the ET and Q3map2’s sources and I couldn’t find anything relevant to what you type. I don’t know if you were going from memory but having the exact error msg would help…

I’m wondering if you’re trying to run the map with a mod? If so, that might be the problem. Try loading it with etmain.

Also, I would check if any spawn or entities are outside the map hull… Hide everything from view except structural (that will keep the ents on) then zoom out and make sure there’s nothing filtered out.

Except for that… I have to admit, it’s weird… Did you try a clean install of ET? That might work… There might be something wrong with the exe or whatever… lol sorry just stabbing in the dark here…

I had that same error… I just ingnored it and continued mapping… And It dissapeared I used Mean MR Mustards truck prefab when this ocurred.
Try hitting brush cleanup several times.
Do you have moving vechiles in your map?
