Unbalanced Teams... really sick of this (Know a solution)

Seems like 90% of the servers crashed around 2:00am this night unless 1 strange server that was 8 humans vs 8 bots, got sick of this after 2 maps so I left to post something very important here that hopefuly Splash will read and do for the next patch that’s taking so long.

1- The issue of having unbalanced team:
I’m not gonna learn anybody something, we all know what it is to play with unbalanced teams and what usualy happen is that the team 4x worse lose on the first objective.

2- What happens next after the first lost?:[ul][li]A) A few players of the losing team ragequits and to make things even worse, they get replaced by bots then guess what, all the bots goes into the losing team to make them even more bad… awesome!
[/li][li]B) Let’s pretend no one from the losing team leave on that big loss at the first objective. Yes it rarely happens but let’s say it does. What happen this time is that on the next map there ISN’T ANY SHUFFLE FFS so the same unexperienced players will all play against the same experienced players and will again get totaly raped on the first objective again and now this time people will rage quit, gets replaced by crappy bots and the wheel will keep turning until even people from the better team gets sick of it and leave too.[/ul]

3- The solution:
Nothing hard to implement in the game. If we could simply press escape and have some a menu for (Call Vote for Shuffle) then it would already help and while I’m there, let’s add a (Vote kick tab) so we can also kick those annoying afk who ruins the balance too. Another thing you devs must include is an automatic shuffling at the end of PUBLIC MATCHES so the next round doesn’t get played with the same very unbalanced teams. Don’t do it for private servers as people scrimming won’t be happy. See how simple it was? Can hardly believe no one in the studio though about this but we’ll all pardon you if you get to include this in the next patch. It’s one of the main reason why there is so few people playing this game other than the hardcore players which are less prone to rage quitting than new players. Edit: I almost forgot to say it, part II of the solution would be that when a few players quit and gets replaced by bots, on the next map during that shuffle, do it so the bots get splitted EVEN on both side because the team that gets all the bot or most of them is clearly at a very huge disadvantage.

I think shuffle on XP is a good idea, put to a vote. However they must use a voting system which says majority rules, not the really bad voting system from ET:QW where one asshat could fail a vote.

If you see servers with 8 humans vs 8 bots, that means the servers been hi-jacked by a players who wants to play the campaign online, you will usually find playing on these servers a maps played again and again until the map has been won. Think I played **** Yard about 10 times in a row.

Pretty sure you can vote kick as someone tried to do it the other day as they accused me of cheating, I haven’t looked but I’d be surprised if XP shuffle is not in there as its been there in every other game.

XP Shuffling at the start of each round could be a nice feature.

Great post. Other games like Gears of War 3 has all of these features you suggest, and I tried them out and they make sense. At the end of a match, it would be cool if it shuffled the teams based on performance. It’d have to be a specific playlist for that at this point, because many people would rather play together on the same team even if it is imbalanced. But it’d certainly help people stick around especially in a mode like Stopwatch.

Yes I’ve seen about 4-5 time someone calling a vote to votekick but wtf did the devs hide the vote-kick menu or what because I have no clue where to find it and I’m really not a noob when it comes to computers so if it’s not obvious enough to me I’m not suprised at all 95% of the people online don’t know how to. I’d bet it’s a console command just to make things even more “simple”.

I used to have the same reflex as you thinking that such extreme basic and mandatory features could never not be in a game but you could be suprised these days with new games stripping more and more basic features. ETQW offered much more than Brink, UT2004 much more than UT3… and coïncidence or not, both sequels that offered much less has been on console too unlike the previous.

Yes the votes needs to win by majority of current people voting, not requiring X ammount of players to win because otherwise it always fail because of that 1-2 dumbass players who don’t vote or don’t know how.

Then they could make it so fireteams don’t get shuffled. I rarely see any fireteam online (seen that 3-4 time at most in 2 months) so not touching at fireteams wouldn’t cause a drastic issue to the balance.

I think there should just be an auto balance system, or better yet, not restrict me to change teams whenever I want.

For me…
The Problem
I have to wait for the 1st spawn at the beginning of the game, to change teams, drop that… it’s totally pointless, I always try to even the teams.
The solution
You don’t even need to remove that, just allow there to be an auto balancing feature. So when a player drops, some unlucky person must join the opposite team, however, I realize this will probably cause a problem with stats. That’d either require the stats to be more in depth (like, mention the teams were auto balanced) or just have to suffer with a loss. :confused:

I do agree that need some system to shuffle teams, on pubs happens a lot that your team win all games or you get dominated all games.

But xp maybe isn´t the best way to shuffle it, the k/d ratio is basicly what makes your team win or loose, people might disagree but if you look at the orbituary thing the team that frags more is the team that usually wins, and the better players usually are the ones who can kill more and die less, wich have nothing to do with xp.

i remember a game where splash damage had both “shuffle by xp” or “shuffle randomly” features implemented. anyone with admin could press the button. anyone without admin could simply call the vote on vote enabled servers.

This is a double edged sword. But could be its own playlist or gametype: hardcore.

Because that means their clearing a way and doing objectives. Despite everything, killing is what gets the results…

Great idea to have a call vote for auto shuffle. The shuffle does not need to go by exp or anything else, a completely random shuffle is fine.

Yes, I completely agree with what you guys are saying. Either on big teams, playing all alone with 7 bots against a team of 4 humans 4 bots, or on competitive, playing 5 against 2. Its less bad on the competitive playlist since ppl seem to join pretty fast, which balances the teams, but on big teams its a chore…

I know other games like Gears of War 3 will use a hidden true skill score to shuffle the teams so that they are even out. Not everyone wants to play this way, even though I for one am all for balanced matches. Last night I manually switched sides to get four guys on both sides. What happens is, more people will join. Otherwise, if someone joins and sees that the other team is all humans, they feel like they have no chance, and will leave. Some of it right now has to be up to you to even the teams until something like this could be implemented.

I also agree that no matter what we says, killing more people will give a better advantage and usualy the guy killing more will be the one at the front line so the one that’s gonna be helping the team, not that stupid noob camper sniping far away doing 1 kill per 1-2min. It’s easy with medic to spam buffs and keep hiding and just reviving people to get a lot of XP but it doesn’t help much ur team if you don’t fight.

I heard Splash will soon release the DLC with a patch that will nerf the Carb-9 and they’re better off having the shuffling and most of the things that have been suggested here cause their game is definitely going to die within 2-3 months if they don’t give a damn about us here.
