So the playerbase in DB is small. Let’s use that as an excuse. Your suggestion is not doing anything, allowing the small portion of high-level, extremely good players stomp noobs and waiting for DB miraculously getting a lot of players?
That ain’t gonna happen sweetcheeks. A lot of negative reviews that aren’t stupid or made by stupid players, (hurr durr hax every match by half of the players) address the matchmaking issue.
And if “Cobalts” are making smurfs, place them in different teams. So atleast both teams have even odds of winning, unlike now where the game places new players in a lobby in one team and then the other, creating a 50% chance of high-skilled players end up in the same team.
Or spread them between teams in the first place. Force them to switch teams.
Most high players “do not care for wins” anyway. They should not complain getting switched to the losing team if the game will not be a 15 minutes defense on rnd 1 and a 2 minutes 2 objectives attack on rnd 2 and actually a “game”, right?
I see it so often. 1 player who is level 100+ alone can keep a bad team in their spawn.
In such cases I just run around the map, try to shuffle and do not help the meatgrinder.
It would be so easy for the game to take that one player, and replace him with the lowest enemy player, so the team could get out of the spawn and maybe get 1-2 objectives before the match ends.
But no. The game has to care for the minority of high-skilled people and give them meat to stomp on. Right?
People like Nisse or N8o were always the issue. (Just to name a few negative examples I came across many times and not just once) They either play with their high-skilled friends in one team, or stomp alone.
Edit:
As I was writing this I played this match.
I joined it with the team having 5 players and enemy having 7 players.
opicr0n and another lvl 79 already showing by the score they’ll run this game. Not giving half a damn about one of them switching.
And see for yourself how it ended.
We were held in our spawn for 15 minutes. Did not even plant a single time. And as I mentioned, only got arrogant stuff back when our whole team and me complained about that crap.
The game could have put the lvl80 player in our team by force. And we might’ve done anything with 3 people who are higher than 20 against that single high-level in such a case.
But the game and seemingly SD rather cares about people with much higher skill ending up in one team, giving them some points and frustrate the rest.
This is poor balance, and this is the biggest point that ruins this game.
Not slow development. Not fresh-released mercs having non-fuctioning broken mechanics.
Not the lack of communication. This is what ruins DB for me and many other people.
And I am seriously mad about this.
P.S. An Ukrainian game that I play from time to time with a daily playerbase of sub-1K manages to do better balance despite having 5 hardcoded tiers of level you can play at.
