Unable to (Team) Chat When Dead

ok so I have team chat set to T and all chat set to Enter.
when Im down and wounded and able to still get revived, I can still use those keys to chat.
but if Im finished off, I can no longer use those keys for those actions, but I can do all chat with Y for some reason (and when I press Y, it places the letter y in the type section, so I would have to backspace that out too)
I find this really really really bothersome because if I need to tell my team somthing (ex: planting), I am unable to, and can be a setback.
