Unable to connect after a match every single time.

(Warven) #1

Hello ! First post here, sadly for a very annoying bug.

I can log in the game without any problems, as well as getting in a new game.
But as soon as the match end, the game tries to refresh my data/account/whatever and I will be prompted with a message telling I am not connected to the Internet. And the only option is to EXIT THE GAME (how dumb is that ? Could have at least put a retry button…).

So I have to relaunch the game every single time I want to play again, and seriously it is beyond frustrating.
I saw the bug reported here and there but no solution whatsoever.

Anyone got a clue ? My internet is very stable (VDSL2 100/30mbps, sub 20 ping on most games).

Bump, seriously I love this game but this bug is the worst…

I would suggest contacting customer support for further investigation :frowning:

(Warven) #4

Yesterday I made it work by smashing my escape key while the game was trying to fetch/refresh my account. I’ll try again tonight and will post results. If this fixes it that’ll be fine for me, at least I’ll be able to play. But yeah maybe I’ll open a ticket later. Thank you for your answer

Ok so I does not work as I thought, it was just luck that I could play a second round… I’m gonna go to customer support… :frowning:

(Warven) #6

Ok so I got an answer from customer support stating that it might be related to packet loss and that I should contact my ISP.
I know it’s not a packet loss issue, I never had any PL problems in the 3 or 4 years I had this particular ISP, and play a lot of others competitive games without any single issue like this. Adding a retry button would certainly allow me to try a few more times before exiting the game every freakin’time…

Hello @Warven,

What kind of antivirus/firewall do you use?
I know that Bitdefender works really bad with Dirty Bomb (well to be honest it’s the other way around). It messed up my game so bad that I had to uninstall Bitdefender because SD/Nexon never gave a proper solution to this.

On top of that you could try to “verify the integrity” of DB’s file:

  • From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
  • Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache… button.
  • Steam will verify the game’s files - this process may take several minutes.

Hello Naralin, thank you for your answer.

I do not use any firewall, and only Microsoft Essentials as an antivirus (I am very cautious with what I’m doing on my computer, so its enough for me).

And as stated in my first post, I already verified the cache integrity of the game, without any improvements sadly.

To be fully transparent, it does work sometimes (1 out of 10), but it seems pretty random. Also, if I wait for a few seconds when the error appears, it does try again to refresh my account, and it works with the same probability (about 1 in 10).

Another shot: can you rename “ShooterEngine.ini” into something like “ShooterEngine.ini.old” and try to play again? The file will recreate itself.

It’s located here: Documents\My Games\UnrealEngine3\ShooterGame\Config

If you edited other config files you might want to do the same with them.

PS: have you always experienced this issue or it just came out of nowhere?

(Warven) #10

I’ll try that tonight, thanks. The only file I modified is DefaultGame.cfg (I think) to remap the Home key.

And as far as I can remember I always had this issue.

(Warven) #11

Welp, no luck, still happening :frowning:

(Naralin) #12

Sigh
I am running out of idea…
Maybe a last one: when I had Bitfender as antivirus/firewall it often prevented me from simply connecting to the game. When I looked up for solutions it was said Dirty Bomb regularly try to make external connections to retrieve some data (e.g: refresh your account). So basically I had to disable Bitdefender before starting DB.

You could try this one too.
But again, this game’s support service is pretty bad. When you have those kind of issues, most of the time they will blame your ISP/computer.

(Warven) #13

Thank you again for trying to help me, I appreciate it

I’ll try to monitor with wireshark what is the game doing when refreshing my account, and see what I can make out of it. I’ll keep this thread updated if I find anything useful.

[left]I’ve been playing this game over the past week and I too experienced the “Unable to connect” problem. I looked through a few of the posts here and on google, but I was unable to fix it.

So I took a look in TinyWall and noticed that Dirty Bomb was requesting to connect a nexon.net host on port 443 which was being blocked. I added an Incoming TCP port 443 to TinyWall and relaunched Dirty Bomb. After playing a match I waited for the error to kick me out, but it didn’t happen!

Now, I do notice on some occasions that I still get the “Unable to connect” error, and get kicked off the server and back to the main menu. And when I do get booted out of the game, it’s not on EVERY single match.

Edit: It seems I was a bit premature with my findings… I guess it was a fluke. I did find that port 8432 UDP was being blocked, every time this error occurred though.
