ultranoobie question: can I limit the light in a huge map?

I am building a space map containing extremely tall towers… which make my lighting compilations a drama… :confused:

I seem to remember a thread in q3w saying that with q3map2, I can discard areas of the map for the lighting?

The map is basically a massive skybox, but I only need a small area to be “enlightened”… any idea if this is possible?

If you’re using a recent version of GtkRadiant, or installed the extra shaders included with Q3Map2, then you’ll have the “common/lightgrid” shader. Slap a brush of that around the playable areas you wish to be lit. That will define the bounds of the lightgrid.
