Uh, live patch? WTF?!

(Shotgun Surgeon) #1

So this little live patch that SD did… it’s crap. This morning the majority of my games were LAG FREE. 8v8, all humans, and it was all lag free. Now I rarely find ANY populated games? And when I do, they’re 2v2 and they LAG like crazy.

First and second day, laggy games. This morning, lag free… I thought it was a miracle. Now they take it away with this live patch?

IDK… maybe it’s just me and it’s all just some coincidence. But this “live patch” doesn’t fix anything and free DLC isn’t going to make the lag go away.

And don’t even think about replying to this thread and attacking me because I’ve done nothing but show love and support. But it’s getting to the point where I just want to play the damn game already and not have to worry about lag.

(Brink Lags) #2

This game needed dedicated servers for all platforms. What a joke.

(Shotgun Surgeon) #3

TBH I’m starting to REGRET getting this game. I traded in Crysis 2 towards this game… I shouldn’t have done that. At least the lag in Crysis 2 was bearable. This is just UNFORGIVING. Is it because only 100 people play this game now or something?

SD seriously fix this ****. The issues never should have existed in the first place. IDC if it was in COD… I hate COD. IDC if it was in any other game, that’s no excuse at all.

(Brink Lags) #4

The worst part is I know this game is amazing. That’s the killer. All my friends have already bailed.

(fearlessfox) #5

While I understand the game /should/ have shipped in better condition, what we do know is this:

Brink is, underneath all the flaws, a very good game.
SD have an amazing reputation supporting their products.

That’s pretty much all we need to know. I think the assumption that the game is going to go from strength to strength is a lot safer than the opposite.

Dedicated servers could still happen, let’s hope they’re working on that…

(Gamer2Gamers) #6

if section 8 prejudice a XBLA game can add servers BRINK devs should get on that asap

Well, this is certainly unexpected. No Xbox Live Arcade game to date has been afforded a dedicated server option. That is, until now. TimeGate Studios has announced that its recently released, multiplayer-centric title, Section 8: Prejudice, now allows Xbox Live players to access and play on PC-hosted servers through GameServers … for a small fee.

Dedicated servers can host ranked or unranked matches with support for up to 32 players. The monthly charges will run you $1.29 a player, plus a little extra something something if you want to purchase support for a standalone voice chat program. You can place your order for a dedicated server for the XBLA version now – PC and PS3 players should look sharp, though, as the same support is on its way to their respective versions of the shooter.

if they can do it why not brink right?

(Shotgun Surgeon) #7

Agreed the game is great. But what’s the point of it’s unplayable? They could have had such an amazing launch with a strong, growing playerbase. But now the game will be lucky enough to have 5000 players after 3 months (on 360 and ps3 at least).

Better condition? It didn’t launch in ANY condition! I have yet to get in a playable 8v8 game. It hasn’t launched yet. I tried hosting a game with my amazing fios connection. Unplayable.

Is this actionable? Better business bureau worthy?

Yeah, let’s throw more money at them?

I get your’re hurting, but look about… not /every/one is experiencing this unbearable state. Either that or a lot of people are outright lying for some reason.

I know the game needs work, but some people just seem to be unluckier than others.

I’m pretty sure they’ll add dedi servers for free soon enough. If they don’t add servers and lobbies over the next month or two at the most, then I’ll probably lose most of my faith in them.

same here, i’m really hoping what everyone says about them being spot on dev team is true, i guess we’ll see.

They need to add dedis now. Acknowledge they have no clue how to get p2p working for their game and move on. Every day is a killer for a new ip. Quick decision. Let’s see what kind of leadership they have at SD.

Does anyone know how they set up host selection? Does anyone know what upload is needed to run a lag less 8v8? The mm setup for this game on consoles is a ponderous tragedy.

(Shotgun Surgeon) #13

I don’t want to sound pessimistic, but while I do hope they would add dedicated servers, I highly doubt they will. If they were to add dedicated servers and lobby, it would most likely be in Brink 2 if there was ever to be a sequel. Dedicated servers are the last thing on their minds. I just don’t think they have the money. They have lost so many potential customers by rushing this game out.

(Brink Lags) #14

How could they release this game without a console beta to test p2p hosting?

Brink 2? I haven’t played a real game of Brink 1 yet.

(Gamer2Gamers) #15

I don’t think people will be as eager to acquire BRINK 2 if the problems in BRINK aren’t resolved, it will be hard for them to break through and gain the trust of console players again, that and it’s a new IP against juggernaut competition FPS games - their development named is intact to brink and has had tons of exposure they want this to end on a high note.

Just really hoping they deliver…cause i really enjoy this game.

(fearlessfox) #16

Honestly, if SD give us:

Dedi servers on all platforms
Lobbies
DLC and ongoing optimisations

then they will make a /lot/ of money.

When it comes to online gaming, word of mouth and strength of community is all it takes. The initial reviews would be forgotten in moments if the issues they complained about were taken care of.

The foundation of this game is /so/ slick it’s scary, I just hope this doesn’t turn out to be one of gaming’s great could-have-beens.

(Shotgun Surgeon) #17

ok, realistically what are the chances of us getting dedi servers?

(DeadEye) #18

You guys are crybabies. This game is amazing, and if you haven’t experienced it’s amazingness yet that’s your own fault. Maybe it’s because I play more private matches than public matches, but 80% of the games I’ve played online have been lag free.

(fearlessfox) #19

No, you don’t understand. The lack of comprehensive optimisation = many users - albeit most likely the minority but still they’re paying customers - are having very uncomfortable experiences.

You and all of the people you know might be having 8/10 games smooth as ice, but users like BL have been shafted by SD’s rushed release and can’t get to grips fully with a game they know is potentially awesome.

That must be damn frustrating.

However, I do think BL is kicking up far too much of a fuss. SD are on it and will likely sort this all over the next month. I can’t see them putting this much effort into what is obviously a very well made game and letting ti fail due to some easily fixable issues.

Patience, boys and girls; let’s at least give them a chance to clean up their mess!

(system) #20

Is it really that hard to put the name of your stupid platform in the thread’s name?
