Two or three gameplay tweaks that could do a world of good to Brink

(hohun) #1

Bugs aside, I think Brink is a good game and I do not regret my purchase (as long as you patch it until all is resolved!). This being said, there are some gameplay automatisms that should be implemented to smooth the gameplay some more:

  • Players should be able to switch body types in-game. There are moments in a map where I like to play heavy, and moments where I would like to jump around. This can get really frustrating if the enemy team has a gameplay that doesn’t suit my game style;

-Same goes for the abilities, they should be upgradeable ingame;

-Weapon parts should be unlockable with XP and not by completing challenges, which, even if they can be completed in coop, are not why I bought the game in the first place.

And that’s about it. I don’t know if these changes can be implemented because I don’t know s**t about game dev, but I think implementing them would actually better the gameplay instead of ruining it.

Edit: PS: by the way, kudos for the Heavy’s grenade launcher! I can’t stop knocking down guys :slight_smile:

I guess the challanges are meant to be some kind of tutorial. thats why you get the good rewards. To be honest. To unlock everything (only need first and second lvl of each) you need about 1h maaaaax. if you are familiar with pc shooters :wink:

yes pls change bodytype ingame
and make them more distinct

like no engineer on a light
no sniper gun on a heavy
stuff like that

the way the game is now u can pretty much go all lights and probably 90% medics

I also saw the option to have preset weapon loadouts in an older preview. Would like to have that back. Maybe bound to the class.

yes pls because the weapons menu looks nice but isnt very efficient to quickly switch load out in a hectic game

Changing bodytypes in game will make them less distinct as people will always adapt their bodytype to the situatio before they adapt their playstyle. Certain path locked? No problem! I’ll go light, no need to hack or blow up the entrance. Chokepoint? Hold on a sec, let me get my heavy. Boring as hell.

There’s a very good reason you can’t change bodytype.

No worries, that doesn’t seem to be a prerequisite to be heard these days.

dude what game are u playing? atm theres 90% lights

I can see why people would be against changing body types in game.

I’m on the fence really. Half of me says its a bad idea and part of the tactical nature of the game. It goes with the same reason why I like scars and tats being permanent. Great touch in my opinion.

The other half of me looks at fun for other players. If you’re playing your heavy body and getting smoked to the point where the match isn’t fun, you might wish you could swap to something other than an empty class with no talent points invested in it.

Again, I could go either way on this one.

Diasgree with all parts in the main post…

I like the mix of bodytypes ingame. And i like that you must choose what you are planing to do. If you can change all ingame, it will change the fun of being not perfect for one or other objetive, but although not useless. When i play a perfect ranked Medic, its good for some objectives… but its good for our team too. When everyone can change everytime there bodytype and abilities… there will be PERFECT for counting or storming x objective. That would down the fun, i think! :smiley:

Oh, and i like the competions to get better weapons. When you start a new char, you can solo play competions by EASY… and get good weapons for the start on online gaming. When you are new, its a good think to make these chalanges to learn the game machanics. :slight_smile:

Let us customise weapons in the game, not in the main menu

Sure that’s because the balance is completely messed up. That’s a different point.
