Two opinions about C4

(MethodOwn) #1

As it is now, it seems a lot easier to defend on most maps than attack.

I think disarming C4 should take longer than arming. Maybe not twice as long, but it shouldn’t be as fast. It could be explained by “encryption” or trying to figure out the wiring.

I also think any objective that requires repair or construction should not be either once destroyed by C4. The objective might be something that a few twists of a set of pliers can repair, but re-assembling something after it has been blown to pieces once in the same amount of time seems a bit of a stretch.

I think the only thing that bothers me, when i compare db to et, is that it is not possible to plant multiple C4’s.

(MTLMortis) #3

The c4 secondary objectives are about opening or closing another route to the primary objective. It’s not about realism but gameplay.

Sorry to break up the gathering of Proxies, but I think it’s fine right now.

(AirborneAsian) #5

This is why you have to defend clearly. :expressionless:

I also think it’s pretty balanced right now. Sure some maps do allow for defense to have an upper hand, but with the right team work and communication, attack is really easy.

I like the way it is now as it really focuses on teamwork which is enjoyable in a game.

(Samniss_Arandeen) #7

What if the C4 timer paused while someone was actively defusing it?

(Gh0st1e) #8

IMO the C4 defuse needs to be made to act the same way as planting it. Why should planting C4 have to be done in a single go when diffusing doesn’t?

I say this because it’s pretty easy to rush a few objective classes at a stick of C4 and diffuse it causing the other team to have to replant and start the process over which is detrimental to the time on the clock.

(Samniss_Arandeen) #9

Maybe give the attackers the ability to revert defuses? An Objective Specialist can interact with it and de-defuse it, but stops the timer to do so.

a 3 wheeled car works pretty well as long as 2 wheels are in the front. It allows for better turning so cars wont tip onto their side like those did.

It’s nice to see (the former) Top Gear get a mention. Jeremy Clarkson knows what’s up when it comes to three wheeled cars and balance.

Insert hour-long physics lesson about inertia, body roll, and sliding friction in the context of automotive stability here.

Tell me more about how being shot in the chest allows you to keep running indefinitely in real life.

(Gatlinghawk) #17

i know someone who worked with Bomb squad in the middle east(uuhhmm Brandon)
diffusing a bomb does Not pause it. In fact, most countermeasures to this are a quick fuse if the wires are tampered with.

(MethodOwn) #18

Dirty Bomb seems incredibly picky about placement of C4 on gens, like the one for the gas tunnel on Underground. I can understand not allowing placement behind things between the C4 and gen, but I have to spend time crouched walking around the thing when I’m in front of it to find the right spot for it to let me arm.

The radius needs to be increased or the “cone” widened.

I also know that explosive ordnance disposal is a hell of a lot more involved in real life. But that wouldn’t be fun, now would it?

If the timer reaches zero but someone’s still working on defusing it, it won’t go off until the defuse attempt stops. How’s this for a compromise?

(retief) #20

Defusing is easier than planting because the attackers only need to succeed once, while the defenders need to succeed every time. If the attackers plant 10 times and it gets defused 9 times, the attackers still win because their final plant was successful.
