Tutorial Requests

i can see al pictures

(redfella) #22

The screenshots that I am refering to in the tutorials require you to click on the thumbnail images in order to view them. Is this what you mean?

(Machine for to kill) #23

I’m not sure what you’re planning on putting inside mappers glossary but what would be nice is a full and complete shader reference. With all the keywords (especially the new ones that ydnar keeps adding in his q3map2 updates) and examples of them.

(Black Death) #24

A construction tutorial with screenshots would be cool too.

(redfella) #25

Right now, I dont have any plans on creating and maintaining an up-to-date glossary of q3map2 commands and variables. Though I may consider it for the future…

On the other hand… I do plan to have a mappers glossary.

Mappers glossary ADDED.

Any feedback concerning correctness would be apprieciated.

Overall, a very nice job. You make reference to some terms that you don’t later define, e.g., “Detail …Brushes that DO NOT create plane cuts in the bsp process.” but you don’t explain what is a ‘plane cut’

You might also want to explain what the various files and extensions associated with a map are:

.map
.sps
.sound
Arena file
etc
.srf

A few other terms you might consider:

BSP tree
devmap
tris
compiling
light - there can be many definitions of this
script - several of these too

im lazy to read all those (small) text … can we have more  … step-by-step thanks

(redfella) #29

Yea, good point. I’ll add some of those you mentioned.

Wow, I had missed this thread previously (glad it showed back up on the front page).

These two will go together, but I’m really interested in is learning more about 3-point clipping and creating better curves (have a hard time with both, can’t get really natural looks to my curves.

I know 3-point clipping is one you just have to work through, but a little help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

i think someone should make a guide etc…

take fueldump as a example…the guide should be start 2 finish,by showing us how they built the map etc…made landscape firsts then done some buldings, etc etc

if guides where made like that life would be great  y hell i will have a go myself

(redfella) #32

This will be the: map design process from start to finish tutorial. Just give me a few months to finish this one, cause its gonna take awhile to make a map. :stuck_out_tongue:

(Garfo) #33

niceone m8

will u have pics as a guide as well?and also when u finish it can u post it here somewhere?

(CaptM) #34

Here was a very good walk through that I found.

http://www.clankiller.com/gtkradianttut/index.php

It’s for WFA (Weapons Factory Arena), but just about everything works for the ET editor (some textures are not available and such).

This has been a huge help to me.

(Lock Ness Monster) #35

i really do think this should be a sticky

P.S. for some reason i cant go to the site with all the tutorials, anyone know y

(stealth6) #36

(Nail) #37

maybe cause the post is 4 years old ?

(Shallow) #38

I seriously think this forum needs a cobweb mod. The older the post, the more little cobweb graphics it has on it.
