Tutorial Level

(SlixFaz) #1

I don’t know why but why do I get the feeling that the developers didn’t put to much work in the tutorial for the new players I mean there’s a lot more things that they could of added because I don’t why I decided to play the tutorial level again XD

The tutorial is not important really. It only shows how to play the game if you are new to first person shooters. If you played any FPS then you will obviously have a good understanding of the game somewhat.

Well said my friend. Well said True lol

Teaching players the importance or throwing ammo and med packs is always really important for this game. Also bomb stuff like… a non-engineer can’t help an engineer repair/defuse. More of the objective/teamplay should be in the “revised” tutorial.

Imo, tutorial should teach new players on how to play specific objectives. Especially EV and the escorting part of it. A bot tutorial game could help teaching these things.

The problem is no matter how “good” they make the tutorial, there will still be people that either don’t play it or just don’t play the game how you think they should. Some people get distracted from the objective chasing people and fighting and that’s what they enjoy - as annoying as that can be, it’ll always happen.

The only thing I think really needs attention still is the way it tells people they’re being a liability when they try to “help” you repair the EV. I seem to remember hearing someone from Splash saying they thought the message was fine as it is, though, so I guess we’re out of luck there.

In the future, it would be cool if the game had very short tutorials for every merc, like in Nosogth, completing which gave you a small reward so people actually did them and learned what they can do at the same time

Slightly off topic, but regular players today still struggle with giving ammo or reviving their team unless reminded by other folk. Rather than implement more development into a tutorial, simple hints can pop up for players who haven’t given ammo/revived/healed/defused/planted to do so. Plus I think it’ll alleviate a lot of frustration for everyone else lol

I know the tutorial is rather bland, but there’s already plans for extending it to other areas and Mercs like Fragger based off voice files.

“Reminding” them doesnt help either, i sometimes stand in front of an e.g. Skyhammer shout Ammo 3 times via Quickchat and write in teamchat aswell just to see him watching me without any reaction or running of to get killed by enemies. (The best ones do both at the same time)

The tutorial is… okay but once you did it you tend to forget things and wont revive/give ammo in pubs. There should be an better ingame help for new players which e.g. give hints or even tell someone, via a pop up that if someone shouts ammo, you should go to him and press e. I would actually even prefer a macro for all those <lvl10 that makes them automatically throw ammo if someone shouts ammo within lets say 20meter.

As it is now, you only see an ammo or health indicator when someone is on his last clip, or on pretty low health. If you happen to be focused on a different direction than your teammate, or look at him from too close up to see the icon above him, you wouldn’t realise the problem.

I still get that a lot.

Didn’t Brink have health/ammo indicators that would point you to the right direction, even if that person is out of view? Some sort of 20-cm-wide ring with pointers to key events in your surroundings?

Tutorial should be mandatory imo and more focused on the different role. Its painful to see lvl10 player being 3 to repair one objective. The tutorial could avoid this kind of thing

I just feel it needs to be more obvious through in game means - if the player goes to repair and it just physically will not let them, treating it like an error and telling them “You cannot report while another team mate is already repairing”

I always thought the notification was obvious enough as is, but as we’ve all said before and seen repeatedly, it apparently isn’t that clear to some people.
