80% of the time i just run in a straight line at them and punch them to death…
Why dont they shoot me as i run at them?! =s
Is it a glitch?! =s

No, it’s the lack of an engineer backing them up. Turrets aren’t like TF2, you can’t leave them alone, they need protection as their response time is low.
Turrets are just another ability, they’re an extremely powerful ability and buffing them even further would make them a no-brainer which is not what Brink should have.
They are weak and slow but would be over kill if not. Imagine 3 or 4 turrets guarding an objective if they were more powerful, it would be impossible. I see them as a way of slowing the enemy down more than stopping them outright.
The most use I’ve seen them be are in two cases: hiding the turret so it shoots enemies in the back and putting it on the front line so that it uses up the enemy team’s supplies and ammo by making people throw nades at it. After it stops working with 1 nade, it only takes a few seconds to get it back up and running ready for some more nades. If it was destroyed with gunfire, the engineer who put it up wasted a lot of enemy resources with only one of his supply pips. That’s pretty valuable, actually, but not quite what turrets are often supposed to do.
turrets are activated by AGGRO more than anything. you have to put them in a spot where enemy will already be shooting.
i guess they are a little slow, so the control turret ability of the operative has a purpose.
Turrets do seem a little weak to me, especially coming from QW where an engie could hide behind one with the floating strogg wrench and keep it alive for a long time.
I’ve got the points to spend - should I go for the largest turret or a second landmine?
Considering 90% of players I play against are all engineers and how popular engineers are…I doubt anything of theirs will get a buff because then we would face walls of turrets
Then again my emp operative would love that
The upgrades seem a little lackluster, they do a bit more damage but are still laughable and easy to avoid.
They need to either buff the damage and keep the slow reaction time, or increase the reaction time and keep the damage as it is.
They also have weak health, it seems a single grenade will drop a turret and knockback the engi protecting it leaving them both to die.
The turrets in this are exatly what they need to be; easy to use and not too powerful. I think of turrets as more of a harassment tool, or distraction. For example, on container city, deploy a turret behind the bot, it tears up security and the time it takes them to get rid of it, you can have some defenses up.
Turrets also do better against real people, rather than ai who take them out without even looking
IDK some times the AI brainfarts and just stands there and looks at the turret.
they react a bit too slow i mean you use 3 skill points for them and they dont react if someone dances samba infront of them… i think the reaction time should be like in tf2. infront of them instant and around a bit slower and with slow turnspeed
If you look in the last blog entry from the developers:
“Per the documentation, turrets will respond to most forms of dance including salsa and cha-cha. Samba is a known issue and will be handled in the next update.”
My mindset when pubbing is to use my turret/mine(s) to dictate enemy movement or for area denial. If you make the turrets smarter or more powerful you’re risking some serious game imbalance.
The only annoying thing with turrets is that if you break line of sight, they immediately forget about you. So they are easily fooled by dashing in and out of cover. Apart from that I think they are fine, if they locked on any easier then teams would just roll with a ton of engineers and completely lock down objectives with a swarm of turrets.
Was the theory that they lock onto targets on the radar more easily ever confirmed or denied?
oh god please no
I remember dominating enemy team by controling a well placed gatling turret with my operative
