Yeah there are plenty of good creative spots to put turrets on these maps especially the ones with escort objectives. Turrets seem most effective when put at range from enemies, out of the way in a corner or behind cover, and/or when placed at unexpected angles toward incoming enemies. The key of course is to place the turret so as to allow it time to get a “lock on”.
Alot of the “obvious” turret spots I see players use do little more than force an enemy to use a grenade or a mag to disable it. A good turret placement will allow players to get frags off it due to the enemy having to turn toward it when entering a room for example, or will get frags for itself by sneakiness. Engi is fun, can’t wait for the DLC when we have more points to spend in an all round build.
Turrets... oh god the turrets

Well said. I play Eng a lot. My first character. But I mostly play Soldier/Op. And one of the things I like about Operative is you have so much direct and manual access to your turret. And I love when friendlies repair my hacked turret.
You are so right. Placement is key. Like you said, so many people just drop them anywhere, obvious places. But I have been killed a few times where I had to turn and look, only to realize it was a turret.
It would be awesome if OPs could give friendlies access to the turrets, on which a remote device has been placed.
no. i don’t realize that. it may work once on a single player who’s paying attention. But others won’t know until they do. And there’s always another player who doesn’t see it.
I play Engineer mostly all the time. I do wish the turrets were a little faster to lock on, maybe 1 sec. As it is it takes maybe 2 sec to unload a clip into it and disable it before it even locks onto you. It seems like for the trouble of placing it you should get a bit more benefit than just making a player spend 1 clip of ammo or 1 nade.
They are easier to take out than I would like. I will definitely say that. But I love them, especially as an Operative.
It’s not long before the other player spawns and goes on a personal revenge mission. Don’t forget communication. And a good team should stick together.
The only time it wouldn’t work once is on a completely retard tier team, in which you don’t even need your guns to beat them, let a lone some turret.
MG nests are only good at distraction. Innacurate and makes you a static target. They need an accuracy buff I feel. Anyone remember the gun on top of the tank in Oasis WET map? Something like that.
Turrets are rubbish! I only find them any use by putting them in a location I can’t keep my eye on so I know an enemy is coming that way when they get destroyed.
But yes, I can see the benifits of an Op being able to control turret by remote.
Loads of turret ideas in other threads including different types of turret and buffs and attachments (simaler to how attachments on your gun works). Who knows if Splash have read them?

Good points good points.
[QUOTE=AmishWarMachine;349291]The real bummers to turrets, to me, are:
- They aim the direction you aim when setting them down. What this does, is it takes away any chance to tuck a turret tight into a corner (for added protection).

Can this be remedied with Control Turret ? Does Control Turret allow 360 degrees of rotation ?
He meant that you can’t really put them into the corner. Since YOU have to be in the corner so the turret doesn’t face the wall.
Like in tf2 you can rotate the turret before placement. So you can put the turret tightly into the corner and at the same time facing an open area.
I know. I wanted to know if it’s a good workaround.

Even Quake 3 Fortress mod by Splash Damage allows you to rotate turrets after placement. So I guess SD is trying to be “nice and casual”.
The would be better if they had gentle voices and asked the enemy…
“Are you still there?”
I usually just have it as a shooting partner when guarding an objective with my Minigun.
Pew pew.
Who knows… maybe they will add a feature/ability to upgrade a turret in future Ranks. If the Rank gets raised beyond 5.
Nope. It’s not in the upcoming dlc. And this game is going to die very soon. The dlc will kill it =/
Oh ****e, I bought the game and how dare I enjoy it. I must not be one of the cool children. Tomorrow I vow to log onto the Sd forum everysingle damn day and tell EVERYONE, in every thread that I hate the fact I wasted a tiny amount of cash cos I could not make an informed desicion about spending my pennies wisely therefore announcing to the whole forum that I am hopeless with my money.
Then I will buy London Bridge and sort out a cash transfer as apparantly I am inheriting from my Nigerian uncle who happens to be a General! Oh, and buy some cock pills for my tiny epeen.
