Turrets are basically useless.

(Xiphos) #1

Turrets are REALLY weak and this video shows why.

Make them lock on faster and weaken them a little or at least make them reliably shoot people who’re foolish enough stand STATIONARY IN FRONT OF THEM.

Seriously, I’ve gotten to lvl 20 as Engineer and medic and my Turret got roughly 2-3 kills in ALL that time.

(H3LLS1) #2

there is something up with the turret. ive had games where it does JUST that…

…and then i had a match like last night where it was kicking ass. i don’t get it.

(Skeggi) #3

Would be nice if this could be fixed on next patch, if it’s not meant to be like this.

(SinDonor) #4

That looks like a weird and uncommon bug.

My turrets may not rack up many kills per match but they are effective at geting a few potshots at people and causing the other team to waste time trying to disable my turret instead of focus on their obj at hand. Also, I like to setup my turrets either on the opposit side of where I am at (so we get the enemy in a crossfire) or put them next to entryway facing into the room. That way, enemies walk into the room, right past the turret, and start taking damage.

I also like to put turrets in front of ComPosts I’ve cap’d and enhanced. Lets me know when enemy is trying to steal it. If I am close enough, I can surprise them while they’re in mid-cap.

Thats the light turret, worst of them all realy.

It’s not uncommon, I have used most of the same placement tactics as you and my turret rarely even opens fire. Not to mention I think I’ve only been fired upon by turrets maybe a handful of times. The target recognition system is clearly broken or nerfed into submission during playtesting

It’s not the firepower in question, it’s the fact that on several occasions MULTIPLE enemies were opening fire and standing STILL right in front of it and it only opened fire on them maybe 2-3 times. Over the course of almost two minutes

(H3LLS1) #7

may be part of the issue. cuz my med turret was the one laying into the enemy team…in front of thier spawn LOL

(Ainokeato) #8

Or it’s just uncommon, I’ve always been hit by turrets, I’ve always been killed by turrets, the turrets I’ve placed have always picked up targets. I don’t use my turrets to get me kills, instead I place them at choke points where my teammates would be to add an extra gun.

(Xiphos) #9

I’ve had the same problems with the medium turret as well. It’s why I never took the Gatling turret because they’re a waste of points as it stands now.

Well you can do that but if it isn’t shooting anybody all you’ve got a is a fancy distraction. I don’t even bother to destroy turrets anymore because it’s a waste of time and ammo to kill it if it isn’t a threat.

(Abberz) #10

Well it does need some clear balancing though, keep it the way it is now could be good but only if they gave it more health, or make it target people faster with slightlyless health, or make a ability for you to upgrade your turrets to make it aquire targets faster.

Light doesnt just mean less power. The higher level turrets have longer range and from my experience, better enemy detection.

(Ainokeato) #12

I’m sorry that’s your experience, but I’ve literally never had a turret that never hit me. Though, it would be nice lol.

(H3LLS1) #13

give it a range per level and aquire targets with normal speed and power in that range.

light turret: aquires and deadly at 15 feet
med turret: aquires and deadly at 30 feet
gattlin turret: aquires and deadly at 45 feet

that’s the way i figured it’d be

(Xiphos) #14

I’ve had identical issues with Medium turrets. Something is wrong with them in terms of a bug or something or SP needs to really look at the game balance and see if turrets being as functional as a rock is a good thing.

(sykode4d) #15

Nice buff would be: the Turret targeting the Enemy very fast/instant, when the Operative Comms Hack is on.

(A.i) #16

from my experience - its really annoying when you have couple of turrets at a choke point and 1 nade disables them all… more health and a little faster detection would be great

(MrLuk3e) #17

You have to place them pretty carefully… Once I placed one hidden in a possible flank route… got many kills

…jw has anyone noticed that offline the maximum amount of players on each team doesnt work? I counted 10 enemies on one map… weird ‘.’

since the detection speed for turrets is very slow, enemies can just detect them - throw a nade and retreat, I’ve seen that many times, no matter how good it is placed.
Also, sometimes some1 is using a grenade launcher - that pretty much denies any turrets or mines in the area

(Bakercompany) #19

Could definitely use a quicker lock on time. Seems like you can basically walk up and set a grenade on my turret and disable it.

Typically I put a landmine where it will catch someone and knock them down long enough for my turret to acquire its target. But its still a bit slow.

Which is why I usually place my turrets in uncommon routes to a main Obj or in front of a command post. When I know it is either taking damage or shooting someone, I have some extra eyes on the map while I’m somewhere else.
