Turret Placement ideas?

(kAndyREW) #1

Hey guys,

So my subs are asking for turret placement tips for a video. I have a few in mind on some of the maps that I want to include, but I figured I should ask you guys as well.

I’m just askin for “good spots” to put your turret.
I kinda know what makes a “good spot”… I’m thinkin of sayin somethin along the lines of “Place your turret in a position where it’s range can cover an entire entry way, but at an angle where once the enemy notices they’re getting shot, they’ll be too far in and harder to turn around and escape, ie unexpected corners” Feels a little awkward as far as wording -does anyone have a better way to articulate this?

Anything to add?

Also if you’re gonna submit a “good spot” if you wanna be super awesome, if you could please include a screenshot of where you are. I’ll be sure to give you a shoutout/credits

Also I know the turret does 4 dmg per bullet, but i’m unsure of the RoF, anyone got data on this?

MUCH APPRECIATED!!

kAndyREW

Trainyard part 3, in the corner of the wall opposite the ammo boxes by the river mg. Covers both the tunnel and the river doorway and is extremely hard to kill, especially if bushy stays with it

Underground part 3 on top of boxes near freezer room exit facing objective. People can’t see it or shoot it until they are almost on the objective and if they shoot it they are ignoring the whole enemy team running in to stop them from planting

Huh. I was about to make a video on this too.

Bushwacker main here : D

Underground last objective

On the yellow pipes leading to where you plant the c4 , facing the objective
great way to defend c4 whether you are attacking or defending

Underground last objective
on the window of the control room , people hardly look there for turrets

Underground 1st objective , on the roof , as close as you can get the turret to the hole in the roof
not only will this turret defend the c4 ,it will also defend the roof

All i can think of atm for underground , not sure bout other maps cos underground is love , underground is life

Always catches the rushers and impossible to see unless you stop at the very end of the tunnel before the drop.

solid, ty! however couldnt ppl kill it if they’re coming from the attacking spawn? it’s pretty exposed isnt it

Yeah, it’s exposed if they have already capped the forward spawn but before that there are always people up there defending the MG area and nobody shoots at turrets that aren’t shooting at them when there are people around.

Trainyard #2
In the narrow alleyway leading from the train to the secondary objective, facing the train. It will help protect both objectives at once, especially if you’re on offense and plant the c4 in that open door where the turret has LoS to anyone attempting to defuse.

Also, on the boxes in the middle under the yellow pipe and right under the balcony of the freezer room. The important thing is to move it around regularly so that enemies are never certain where it will be next.

There’s plenty of good places in this game to plant your sentry gun. In my opinion, good spots come from :

  • The turret should have minimal out of range visibility. If your turret is too visible from afar (too far for its range), it will get wiped without doing anything. @Kenzi’s spot for example is quite good, but placing it at the right of the container limits its visibility for quite a good bit without strongly impairing its efficiency. I admit, the turret can’t defend the main street to the wall anymore, but it should be well defended anyway.
  • Spots with minimal dead angles
  • Spots which are out of usual enemies’s line of sight. Generally, especially in close quarters, all players will aim into the same direction (follow a corridor…). If you put your turret out of the enemies’s line of sight, it will gain some tens of a second on them (noticing the enemy turret hits, aim at its direction can take some time), which is not to be neglected.
  • Spots with people around. A turret left alone is pretty useless. It is way more useful as a support fire to yourself or your teammates. So it is better placed where they will be other distractions for the enemy.

I’ll do some screenshot this evening of some spots I like to play with ;).

Behind the enemy spawn at a certain distance, lol.

(smartIsland) #16

@frzn Yeah that’s a great spot, on defense i also put it on the other side of the wooden wall to protect the traincar and it’s so hard to kill unless they shoot from the window above

(smartIsland) #17

Chapel part 1 as defenders, inside garage facing EV with you guarding the windows. Obvious but works

Make sure to move it back a smidge to avoid air strike splash

nice ill be using these spots
