Trying Some Jumps

(DarkangelUK) #1

So I thought I’d give Brink a chance and see if there were any jumps out there that tax the SMART system a little. I’m trying to leave out the obvious, blatant jumps and try and bring something ‘new’ to the table. Just to clarify, when I trick, I trick for fun… if the jump happens to be useful during a normal gaming session then so be it, but I’m all about exploiting the physics and that’s about it.

Anyway here’s the 1st jump I came up with. It’s not exactly aw inspiring, but it’s something different anyway. I’ll try and see if I can find more, but there really isn’t much so we’ll see how it goes… effort vs results etc. If anyone has any of their own, feel free to share, preferably something new and not seen before.

Nice!

You’re right, not sure how that would prove functional in an actual match… but I otherwise would have never of thought that string of jumps could get one from A to B.

I’ve subscribed to your YouTube channel in anticipation of follow-up acrobatics~

EDIT: At about 0:04, where you turn right… could you have instead jumped straight ahead and then wall-jumped off of that overhung wall?

What I’m thinking, is you get Nechavey to the ramp, and the Security team gets its foothold at the bottom, really tough to break once set. If you could wallhop your way over their heads and behind them, you might have a really good shot at breaking up the hold.

/set g_gravity “HAX!”
nice one, keep them coming

Okay. Could I make a suggestion?

Go to the area right outside the sumbarine and parkour to it. Start on the crate.

Anyways, these are the jumps I wish there was more of.

You’ve lost a lot of momentum by that point, any hopping beyond there is more or less a skip to the ground

I’m not up on my Brink navigation… submarine?

It’s in the area of labs. Where you have to turn in the arkoral.

There’s a fantastic spot on container city at the spot where an engineer can build a staircase near the crane. A light can(if done very well) wall hop up there then ground hop to the CP.

Very Nice

Brilliant.

(R_Shackelford) #10

Pretty slick. Could be useful for getting the drop on someone getting Nechayev too close to the finish line, or to jump behind people going for the plant. Other enemies could also get distracted if they see you pulling it off, and draw their fire away from your teammates, which could actually be the advantage over just running down the hall on the right.

Nice. Have you tinkered with L4D2 at all? the wall segment to segment reminds me a lot of the silly precision jumps you can do in that.

(Nexolate) #12

Hey, that’s not bad. Certainly more than I would have gave Brink credit for anyway.

I suppose it has some practical applications, like flanking someone who was firing at you from the doorway.
Not much otherwise though, shame. Still a great jump though!

Nexo

There’s a similar bounce you can pull off near the hack objective on Founder’s Tower. Nothing like a backwards Oasis walljump though.

(FireWorks) #14

You mean you can jump up the broken staircase? I had the impression that was blocked for being a secondary objective… and i hated it.

EDIT: Or do you mean the route above it, from the first res spawn to the supply command post? I think that can be reached by mediums too.

Broken staircase on ccity is possible for lights, and btw an easier one! u know what I mean fireworks  nice tricking recently! I found another route to the small balcony above the mainentrance door (3rd objective) on sectower. nice spot for a uav. besides, is it a bug that the uav disappears when u die except u have moved it one time (the it stays)???

cheers, sgt.smegma

Yep I enjoyed that session!

About the broken stair case jump, I tried it again now and it works but on a completely different level than I would have expected… You cannot just vault or mantle, that SMART seems actually blocked. You have to walk through the door by double jumping and climbing on the small steel bar. By the very stuttery way of how its done, I dont think that it was actually intended by the mapper.

The balcony above the main entrance to the delivery objective on sectow is a really easy one as its just a walljump but the drone up there is nice idea!

(Sgt.Smegma) #17

I know that there is an easy way from the left but i mean a more tricky way from the right where u gain speed from a walljump off the table on the first floor… Maybe someday we meet again to show us some new stuff

Greets, the smeg

Sounds perfect for a video in this thread

(iezza) #19

yeah, cos ive tried countless times to get up there as a light.

(wolfnemesis75) #20

I figured out how to bounce off the palm tree on Sec Tow and get up to the balcony, but its a pain in the ass. Upload a video showing how to do this perfectly and I’ll send you a fruit basket.
