Truck Health - Why 1050?

Much of the action in my Farmhouse map will be concentrated around a truck the allies have to escort, so I want to get this right.

Is the truck health of 1050 from Goldrush any sort of standard? Is 1000 some sort of cutoff (maybe an arty blast or two panzers), and the designers went with 1050 to make the truck just a bit stronger than that?

How do you feel about this health value - too much? Too little?

It all depends on how much heat you expect the truck to take! If he’s gonna ride around in the enemy spawn or in the middle of an empty field with no cover you may want to add a bit more. However dont make is too resistant so it takes 10 nades to damage or something like that!

Just curious as to why you are doing a farm map atm?
lol a few months ago someone asked me to design a map for them and they would build it. so I accepted the challange and designed a map, I live on the side of a mountain which used to have a lot of farms, so there are many farm house ruins etc. So when I cast around my surroundings for ideas my immediate thought was a farm map.
Now this was about 2, maybe 3 months ago. Im just getting back to mapping my KOTH project which is about 75%-80% done.
The guy I designed the map for decided he didnt want the idea so I kept the idea (a paint design) so I could build it once I was done with my KOTH map.
just wondering why the flux in Farm maps?
Its a little (I know its stupid, childish and uncontrollable - not accusing you of stealing ideas or anything of the sort) annoying that when I came up with the idea months ago there was only 1 map which was remotely based on a farm and that was 2Hide.

Anyways, it doesnt matter Im just curious why the increase in Farm maps atm?

I know I sound like a little kid whining, but really I dont have a problem with it (even if I did why should you care anyway) Just curious.

LOL no problem, Boleth…I’ve had the same exact thought: “What’s up with all the farm maps?” I’m pretty sure those that do get completed will be very, very different from each other, so don’t worry about 'em too much. :slight_smile:

Farmhouse actually started as a RTCW map a while back (when I went by Gator =SS=), but real life intervened and I just recently picked it back up and updated it for ET. Note that NONE of those screenshots looks anything like the current verison. :slight_smile:

About the truck: it’s going to be crossing some pretty open spaces, so maybe something tougher than 1050 would be appropriate. A grenade sitting on the truck does 250 points of damage, btw.

hmmpf i would make it even more,like malerik said before:it depents on how long ure truck drives and where,and then its with 4 nades and 1 panzer blown,
i would say like 2 panzer hits 4 nade hits,it doesnt sounds like difference but it can allways help u gettin 2 the end of a objective,

if u weaken the truck, maje faster to repair :wink:
imo 1 panzer shot should destroy a truck but that sounds way too easy.
