Trinket Overhaul Idea

So I’ve suggested this several times in comments on other people’s posts but thought I’d make a full thread about it. I like trinkets, I really do, but with how they are implemented right now, they just suck. They add a nice customization option that can differentiate you from other players… unless they give it out for free to all players… cough cough Gallery update cough cough

So here’s my suggestion: add trinket cases. Have rarities of trinkets with higher rarities having animations and such like the much beloved Coaly. Add around 20 trinkets and allow us to buy the equivalent of equipment and elite cases but only for trinkets. When you receive a trinket, you assign it to a load out card and from then on that load out will display that trinket. This allows you to have multiple different trinkets throughout a match as you change mercs and allows you to further customize your favorite card.

If implemented it will not only add another revenue stream for the devs, but allow us as players to have something more to work towards in addition to simple load outs.

Seems a bit overcomplicated to me.
Although I wouldn’t mind the idea of displaying the trinket along with the loadout card on death?

As long as you can use a trinket multiple times I couldn’t really care. I love my Skullsplitter trinket and I wouldn’t wanna assign it to just one card. I like to use it on every card.

I think combining your suggestion and mine could work well actually. If SD would allow people to assign trinkets to their cards as many times as they want, not only would that allow for further customization without much work from the devs, but it would allow people to keep their favorite trinket on everything.

Maybe make a fresh start with trinkets? Leave the old ones alone as infinitely assignable, but all new ones gotten through the new cases would be assignable to just one card at a time. That way, it encourages collection of the new trinkets, while not messing with current vet’s loadouts. This is all purely hypothetical btw, I don’t expect ANY of this to happen pretty much ever.
