Trickjump server using ETPro mapscripts

Hey,

I just had an idea… :stuck_out_tongue:

I want to make a trickjump server, without real trickjump maps, but with the standard (and maybe custom) maps modified using etpro mapscripting to delete the main objectives…
Eg.
Map: Fueldump, delete the fueldump via etpro mapscripting… this would make the map unfinishable (is that even a word?) I guess?

Anyway, I had this idea because:
• I like it much more to trickjump in the real maps, instead of a closed off room with only the trickjump itself
• It keeps the naders away… (why nade if you cant say “omg look how far I gotâ€? to your friends? :stuck_out_tongue: )
• It keeps the 333 fps’ers down a bit (I hope :P)

Also, I would like to add “signs� which clearly state that the map is modified for trickjumping and you should not shoot, do the obj. whatever… (I like to keep the trucks/tanks etc, for example on supplydepot, you can use the truck for certain trickjumps)

Also, I guess it would be possible to “show� people where the trickjumps are by use of certain signs, textures or smth…

Thinking of it, is it even possible to add textures using etpro mapscripting? Or is it possible to add them in a separate pk3 (so people don’t have to download pak0.pk3 lol)

You can remove (trough setstate )and create (with create {} ) entities using ETPro map scripts.
However, brush-support is rather limited. ETPro allows to create brushes but these are rectangular.

So I would sugest to remove all objectives, and place misc_gamemodels with the signs as a model and the needed texture applied as a skin.

And no, you don’t need to modify pak0.pk3, just pack your sign textures, model and skins together in a new pk3. The map scripts do not need to be included, they only need to be placed into the ETPro mapscript folder.

wait so ur saying u want the real trickjump maps like fueldump, oasis, battiery, etc? well why dont u just have the server play maps like tutorialjump or makemejump (has 3 gammas, mainly real tj tho) could be easier

and i have thought of another reason… now you can try to find even more trickjumps together with other people, instead of all alone on your own server…

btw, the trickjump maps are starting to bore me… once you can do all (except one or two) jumps within 3 tries the fun is off for me…

You could take a look at LMS gamemode and the scripts it uses.

Yes, but LMS also triggers other things like extra brushes. This is done with func_statics which are “lms-only” IIRC.
