Transparent Shader not Transparent in game.

(Qexpres) #1

Hi,
I’ve made a transparent texture with Abobe Photoshop CS2 9.0 with an Alpha Channel. GTKRadiant displays the texture like I want him to see (It’s still a testtexture, so no comments about it please):

After I compiled it, ET shows the texture like a non-transparent texture:

I’ve tried many things, but I just can’t figue out what I’m doing wrong. I like the blue shadow and the shadow-side of it which isn’t darkened (which you can’t see on the picture :P), but can it at least be transparent for a little bit :(.
I hope you guys can help me. Here is my .shader:

textures/testmap/tutsss
{
	qer_trans 0.70
	qer_editorimage textures/testmap/tutsss.tga
	cull disable
	nopicmip
	nocompress
	nomipmaps
	surfaceparm nomarks
	surfaceparm lightfilter
	surfaceparm nonsolid
	surfaceparm trans
	{
		map textures/testmap/tutsss.tga
		blendfunc blend
		rgbgen identity
	}
}

EDIT: Thanks in advance. :slight_smile:

The shader seems to be ok. Is it possible that the alpha channel doesn’t have the structure of the bars and is complete white?

Thank you for those tutorials EB, I’ll have a look at it.
My Alpha channel does have a structure, but my RGB Channel doesn’t. That isn’t necassary, is it? How else can you make semi-transparant then? Or I just don’t get it? My RBG Channel is just blue and my Alpha Channel has a structure (Black and White). My RGB Channel just has a blue color, because I want to use it for semi-transparent later.

Thanks for your help so far, though! :smiley:

you have “qer_trans” in your shader, this makes things transparent, you need “qer_alphafunc” to get the above effect, somethings not right.
RGB should be three channels.

Ok guys, I have it working. :smiley:
The solution was trying it on antoher ET I installed on my PC.
My normal ET is sort of fucked up…
Thanks for the help anyway! :slight_smile:
