As the title says, Attacker Spawn 1 on Trainyard is far too easy to camp and should be changed. The ideal change would be to redesign the spawn so that crossfire and air abilites cannot hit; E.G Placing a new building over the spawn point that the defenders can’t enter. However alternate changes like increasing the respawn protection timer, blocking air abilities with geometry, or removing all points from spawn kills could also be an option.
Trainyard - Far too easy to spawn camp
Most of the maps have that issue. To be honest almost any area can be spawned in some lame way. Bridge has a lot of areas for turrets, Underground attacker spawn has spots Vassili can jump to and snipe from behind the spawn. I feel if they just made spawn protection not fall off when you shoot non of this would be an issue.
You do bring up some good points, but I feel it is more prevelent in Trainyard simply because you have an open spawn point with no cover.
I find “Chapel” is particularly Attackerspawncampable. It happens to me on that map more often than all the spawn camping of the other maps combined.
Although the Attacker Spawn on “Terminal” can get pretty ugly too.
Honestly I don’t think spawn camping is an issue. What I think is an issue on some maps is attackers getting constantly choke killed out of spawn. This is more due to the fact that maps are designed for 5v5 and pub is up to 8v8 though.
The only maps where this is actually an issue however are Terminal, Underground and to a lesser extent Bridge. Trainyard is actually the least affected by this phenomenon.
Trainyard actually feels to be the most balanced map in the game, I’d hate to see it changed.
I’ve only ever seen full-on camping - as in, IN their spawn - on Bridge. Usually we’re wrecking them, just outside their first spawn, but somebody sneaks by and ninja repairs. So their spawn moves forwards and ours doesn’t move back, and we just kill them because we can easily get behind them and kill them from all sides.
Spawn camping is a legitimate strategy. Every spawn you could possibly make is prone to spawn camping. If they move the spawn back, it will just make the map more difficult for attackers.
Spawn camping is a D*** move really bad sportsmanship. I can easily spawn camp but I choose not too because I’m not a jerk who loves to troll. I suggest add and timer that auto kills(No revive) you if you camp at there spawn.
The only map where spawn camping is a problem is the Chapel, where they can throw air strikes right into the spawn area.
Everywhere else, the design of the map prevents effective spawn-camping. If a team puts in effort, they can not be spawn camped. if they don’t put in effort … Well, that sounds like a personal problem.
I really don’t think Trainyard is the worst for spawn camping.
- Think of Terminal once the pump controls have been destroyed - it locks you into coming out of two entrance while the defenders have high vantage points in the windows and the top of the steps and the attackers are forced into two tiny choke points which makes them extremely vulnerable to Naders/Fraggers.
- Think of Underground if the defenders manage to push up to the two choke points, while having snipers up on the elevator balcony/roof of the objective. It’s disgusting.
Those are the two maps that REALLY suffer from spawncamping.
